We started the week out strong with a triple solve but the next day, with an FJ just as easy as the first, it went the complete opposite way. The rest of the week only one person got the final clue. Out of those 3, Friday’s was clearly the hardest unless one was quite familiar with that particular play (and one was!).
Will Dawson returned on Monday and won 2 more games. In this 4th game, he lost to Bif Reiser who won the rest of the week. So both of them are 3-day champs right now. We’ll have to wait until next Monday to see if Bif can get past that 4th game hurdle.
Bif nailed a spot on the Top 10 payouts of Season 35. Next week I’m thinking I’ll expand this list to Top 15. Then we can see how the Tournament of Champions would look if they went by money every year and didn’t include tournament winners.
- $39,995 – Anneke Garcia 1/15/19
- $38,200 – Mary Ann Borer 11/5/18

Bif also got a spot on the under $10K payouts for this season because, as we like to say, “sometimes you’re hot, sometimes you’re not.”

Here’s the L.A. Philharmonic clue from Tuesday’s game:
I think Thu was pretty easy too. You had NIXON =5 in the clue, JFK=3 was very popular, so that left the players with 1 letter. And the pattern was there, even in chronological order. Maybe because W. was a real bust and not seen or even known by many people was the reason that only 1 player got it. But she was last and it was a runaway…
Then Fri again the last placed contestant got it and she could have won the game by betting it all ….. Never a dull moment at J!
