Final Jeopardy: 2-4-19 to 2-8-19

Here are the Final Jeopardy questions and answers for the week of February 4 through February 8, 2019.

Mon, Feb 4 – Correct answers: 3
THE U.S. SENATE: An 1890 Resolution by Sen. Aldrich was killed by this, the very technique it sought to limit; A 1917 rule set some boundaries on it show

Tue, Feb 5 – Correct answers: 0
THE 19TH CENTURY: In his autobiography, Buffalo Bill Cody remembered this venture as “a relay race against time” show

Wed, Feb 6 – Correct answers: 1
INTERNATIONAL BORDERS: Germany has land borders with 9 countries & only maritime boundaries with 2 countries, the U.K. & this one across the Baltic show

Thu, Feb 7 – Correct answers: 1
PRESIDENTS & THE MOVIES: 3 presidential films, all directed by Oliver Stone, have a total of only 9 letters in their titles –“Nixon” & these 2 show

Fri, Feb 8 – Correct answers: 1
SHAKESPEARE COMEDIES: At the end of this play: “Why are our bodies soft & weak …But that our …hearts should well agree with our external parts?” show

We started the week out strong with a triple solve but the next day, with an FJ just as easy as the first, it went the complete opposite way. The rest of the week only one person got the final clue. Out of those 3, Friday’s was clearly the hardest unless one was quite familiar with that particular play (and one was!).

Jeopardy! champs for the week of February 4, 2019

Will Dawson returned on Monday and won 2 more games. In this 4th game, he lost to Bif Reiser who won the rest of the week. So both of them are 3-day champs right now. We’ll have to wait until next Monday to see if Bif can get past that 4th game hurdle.

Bif nailed a spot on the Top 10 payouts of Season 35. Next week I’m thinking I’ll expand this list to Top 15. Then we can see how the Tournament of Champions would look if they went by money every year and didn’t include tournament winners.

  1. $39,995 – Anneke Garcia 1/15/19
  2. $38,200 – Mary Ann Borer 11/5/18
  3. $34,401 – Lori Goodman 9/11/18
  4. $33,801 – Dave Leffler 12/3/18
  5. $33,600 – Alan Dunn 10/18/18
  6. $33,201 – Steven Oppenheim 1/25/19
  7. $32,800 – Bif Reiser 2/7/19
  8. $32,700 – Sarah Butner 10/04/18
  9. $32,601 – Will Dawson 2/1/19
  10. $31,601 – Jill Regan 1/28/19

Bif also got a spot on the under $10K payouts for this season because, as we like to say, “sometimes you’re hot, sometimes you’re not.”

  1. $9,599 – Kyle Jones 9/11/18
  2. $9,199 – Dylan Hamilton 11/26/18
  3. $8,599 – Bif Reiser 2/8/19
  4. $5,999 – Doug Dodson 10/1/18
  5. $5,200 – Adriana Ciccone 11/29/18
  6. $4,799 – Elizabeth Goss 9/11/18
  7. $3,600 – Nancy Schoppa 9/24/18
  8. $2,198 – Tori Campbell 10/26/18

  1. John B./I. says:

I think Thu was pretty easy too. You had NIXON =5 in the clue, JFK=3 was very popular, so that left the players with 1 letter. And the pattern was there, even in chronological order. Maybe because W. was a real bust and not seen or even known by many people was the reason that only 1 player got it. But she was last and it was a runaway…
Then Fri again the last placed contestant got it and she could have won the game by betting it all ….. Never a dull moment at J!
