There were some tough Final Jeopardy! clues in the final week of Season 40. The easiest one was Thursday’s “Famous Women” and 2 players got it. Tuesday’s clue stumped both players who participated in the final round, and there was only one correct response for the rest of them. 1881 in Tuesday’s clue only made me think of President Garfield’s assassination and Pat Garrett killing Billy the Kid. Wednesday’s clue was tough as well. Apache led me to the right territory but I thought the problematic TV character part was referring to a trope. I didn’t get Friday’s clue either but I think a lot of people grew up liking prehistoric films, cartoons and online games so I was not surprised one player nailed it.
Neilesh Vinjamuri returned on Monday for his second game and he won. He also won Tuesday’s game, but it was all over on Wednesday when Davey Morrison appeared. Davey won Thursday’s game but lost to Rachel Bradley on Friday. She will be the returning champ in September.
Neilesh won $41,099 this week ($53,099 altogether). Davey won $29,012 in his 2 games, and Rachel won $23,597 on Friday. So Jeopardy! paid out $93,708 to this week’s winners. $25,000 was paid in consolation prize money. Neilesh got $3,000 of that and Davey got $2,000.
Here is IT BORDERS BOTH COUNTRIES from Wednesday’s game.
Reminder: Alex Trebek is being honored with a Forever stamp by the U.S. Postal Service. The stamps were released on Monday July 22, the anniversary of Trebek’s birthday.
