2020 Preakness Stakes Postponed

With the Kentucky Derby postponed until September 5th, it was a foregone conclusion that the other two races in horse racing’s Triple Crown would follow suit. Now the Preakness Stakes, the 2nd race in the Triple Crown, has postponed the May 16th race held at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.

At this time, a new date for the race has not been set. It was to have been run two weeks after the Kentucky Derby, so we would expect the new date to be no sooner than September 19th. The Belmont Stakes, the third race in the Triple Crown series, hasn’t been postponed yet, though supposedly officials are looking at that. It almost assuredly will be postponed, too; we figure they’ll announce that after a new date for the Preakness is finalized.
