Wichita State and Texas Tech Lose in College Basketball
In what has become fairly routine this college basketball season, several teams ranked in the Top 25 lost to unranked teams, in this case, half a dozen in action January 17th.
Leading the way was SMU’s 83-78 win over #7 Wichita State in Wichita. The Mustangs victory ended Wichita State’s 27 game home winning streak. The Mustangs were led by Shake Milton’s career high 33 points. Wichita State is now 15-3, but SMU isn’t too bad either at 13-6.
In the Lone Star State, Texas hosted #8 Texas Tech in Austin, with the Longhorns coming out on top 67-58. The Red Raiders are now 15-3, while the Longhorns are 12-6. Texas has another big test on January 20th at #6 West Virginia.
Number 16 Arizona State lost at Stanford 86-77. After opening the season with 12 straight victories, including one over then #2 Kansas, the Sun Devils (14-4) have cooled off and lost four of six. Elsewhere, in the SEC Alabama beat #17 Auburn 76-71 and # 21 Tennessee lost to Missouri 59-55. Finally #19 Seton Hall was hammered by Creighton 80-63. Both of those teams are now 15-4 and the Blue Jays will probably return to the Top 25 with this quality win.
