Ohio State Beats Top Ranked Duke 71-66

Last week in an exciting game Duke beat #1 ranked Gonzaga 84-81. The undefeated Blue Devils ascended from being #5 to being the new #1 in the AP College Basketball Poll. But they didn’t get to savor that very long, or at least they probably won’t be at the top in the next poll as Ohio State took down the Blue Devils 71-66 in their ACC Big 10 Challenge game on November 30th.

It looked like Duke had the game well in hand leading 43-30 at the end of the first half. But the Buckeyes owned the last 4 ½ minutes of the game outscoring the suddenly cold Blue Devils 12-0 down the stretch. Zed Key led Ohio State with 20 points and E.J. Liddell had a 14 point, 14 rebound double double.

The Buckeyes improved to 5-2 while Duke fell to 7-1. Another Big Ten team, Purdue, is ranked #2 in the poll and beat Florida State 93-65. If the Boilermakers can get by Iowa on December 3rd, they may be the choice as the #1 team next week.
