Vikings Beat Bills in Overtime Thriller

The Minnesota Vikings staked their claim as one of the top teams in the NFC with a come from behind victory over the Bills, one of the better AFC teams, in Buffalo on November 13th.

Minnesota wide receiver Justin Jefferson had a monster day, catching 10 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown, while Dalvin Cook rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. Davin Singletary rushed for two touchdowns for Buffalo. Both quarterbacks, Kirk Cousins for Minnesota and Josh Allen for Buffalo, threw one touchdown pass and a pair of interceptions. Both teams had over 480 total yards each.

Those are some of the stats. The thrilling part was in the way the Vikings came back from a 17 point third quarter deficit to catch and finally beat the Bills in overtime, and also how wacky the last minute or so of the fourth quarter was that got the game into overtime. That is probably better explained by following this link and viewing the highlights of the game.

Minnesota improved to 8-1 on the season, and only the 8-0 Philadelphia Eagles have a better record (Philly hosts Washington on Monday Night Football). The Eagles beat Minnesota 24-7 in Philadelphia in Week 2. It’s entirely possible we could see a rematch in the NFC Championship.

That was the first time since 1968 that the Bills lost a home game in which they held a double digit lead.
