Thunder Beats Trailblazers Despite 51 Points from Damian Lillard

The Oklahoma City Thunder rolled in to Portland on March 7th for the fourth and final regular season matchup of these two NBA Western Conference playoff contenders. Both came into the contest with identical 39-25 records, and as you might expect between two evenly matched teams, the game was decided in overtime.

Russell Westbrook scored 37 points and Paul George added 32 plus 14 rebounds as the Thunder outscored the Trailblazers 16-8 in overtime to win 129-121. Portland’s Damian Lillard had a huge game with 51 points to lead all scorers. Lillard hit 18 of 20 free throw attempts; he’s third in the NBA in free throw percentage at .910. CJ McCollum had 25 points for the Blazers. Oklahoma City won all four of its games with Portland this season. But the Thunder have lost six of nine, and Portland has lost three of four. Despite that, both are still in solid position for making the playoffs with OKC third in the overall Western Conference standings and Portland fifth.
