Supporting Cast: Where’s My Meth – Shameless

Here are some of the actors and actresses who appeared in Shameless, Episode 2, Season 8 (11-12-17): The recap of the episode is here.

Diner scene in Shameless

I believe in second chances

Faran Tahir played Mr. Adeeb, the owner of Lawn, Lumber & Lighting, who gave Frank a job because he bought Frank’s story of how his life went wrong because of Monica. Mr. Adeeb’s life took a wrong turn because of a woman, too. We remember when Faran Tahir was playing Frank in the reboot of Dallas, Cliff Barnes’ adopted son, sort of. He was in quite a few episodes, the last being “False Confession” when he made one and offed himself with a cyanide pill Cliff gave him. Anyway, he seems like a good guy so let’s hope that Frank doesn’t do Mr. Adeeb wrong.

Frank's Co-Workers in Shameless

Do our eyes deceive us? Frank is paying attention
and his co-workers are goofing off???

Miles Dausuel played Lenny, one of Frank’s co-workers — the one on his cell phone in the picture. We have no idea who played the guy taking a snooze. Frank showed Lenny the proper way to pick up a heavy item, by bending your legs so as not to strain your back. That was before Mr. Adeeb made Frank the supervisor of the Garden Dept. We’re about to see what happens when Frank is given a little authority.

Anna Konkle in Shameless

Some folks take advantage of second chances

Anna Konkle played the tenant with all the rowdy kids at Fiona’s building. Fiona gave her several chances to pay her rent and even agreed to take less than the full amount till she got some more money. The tenant gave Fiona a check for a penny (and that probably would have bounced too). Fiona posted an eviction notice on her door and gave her another day to call before she calls “the Marshall.” Evictions don’t really work that way in Chicago, for starters. It takes a landlord a long time to evict someone, even for non-payment. Okay, this is TV. Still, we doubt that Fiona is going to get rid of this woman and the other deadbeats in her building that easy. Fiona is so green and learning on the job is not the way to be a successful landlord.

Hawaiian pizza with a gram on the side?

What’s in your pizza?

Justin Giddings played the guy who delivered the pizza that was packed with a gram of cocaine to Charlie (Chet Hanks). The pizza was already paid for since it was sent by Lip in an effort to sabotage Charlie’s sobriety. Charlie said he’d take it but he wasn’t tipping. The delivery boy called him a jackass. Lip was the real jackass.

Brad Beyer in Shameless

My stupid boyfriend won’t give me any space

It appears that Duran (David Brackett) is responsible for the hickey on Debbie’s neck and is going to be her new boyfriend. Debbie’s not going to be living with Neil (Zack Pearlman) much longer, but she’s probably not worried about getting a place now that Fiona has that building. It also appears that Debbie has ice water running through her veins, not just about Neil. Despite her bad relationship with Celia, Franny’s paternal grandmother, Debbie had no qualms about maneuvering Celia into babysitting so she could go out with her friends.

Evan O'Toole and Pamela Mitchellin Shameless

What a dump!

Evan O’Toole played the rich boy, Dylan, who spent the night at the Gallaghers after Liam (Christian Isaiah) spent the night at his much swankier digs. Pamela Mitchell played Dylan’s idiotic mother who didn’t even bring her child to the Gallagher home beforehand or make contact with anyone there to see where her son would be sleeping that night. Then she wanted to act like he probably got lice or something, throwing out the clothes Dylan wore before taking him home. We’re just wondering if that will have repercussions at the fancy school the boys go to. Not that it would be a bad thing if Liam wasn’t going there anymore.

Louise Fletcher was SUPERB as Grammy Gallagher – She WAS Nurse Ratched as an old-aged battleaxe! Great call, VJ!

  2. JLane says:

I have to be honest w/ you, VJ – based on the short conversations that we’ve had in fits and starts via your FABULOUS website, (which are primarily about the greatest game show EVER!), I’m not sure I would have pegged you as a “Shameless” fan! I’ve seen the links in the past but yesterday, for the first time, I clicked on it only to find that you authored the piece AND your assessment was absolutely 100% ON THE MARK!
I LOVE that show! William H. Macy’s “Frank” trying to constantly con the system is too funny for words, Fiona’s battles w/ putting herself before family or vice versa, Lip wasting his gift of intellect – They’re all great character studies! And the way they mix comedy w/ tragedy (Liam’s cocaine overdose, Lip’s alcoholism…) is exceptional. I now have yet another reason to check out my new, favorite website on a regular basis! Keep up the good work, darlin’ !!!

    • VJ says:

Gee, thanks, JLane. Doesn’t it seem like the role of Frank was tailor-made for William H. Macy? He is such a great actor. Frank reminds me of my own father in many ways, only he was good-looking and a whole lot meaner than Frank, but a heavy drinker and a con artist. So having grown up like the Gallagher kids to a great extent, I can relate to this show a lot, and this season’s storyline where Frank is blaming Monica for everything that went wrong in his life? omg!!! So Shameless, like Ray Donovan, both have that drunken Irish/bad dad/kids with grudges thing going on and a lot of the dialogue is awfully familiar to me. LOL.

Also, I was a landlord myself for a while at one stage in my life. I don’t know about Chicago but where I was, let me tell you, Legal Aid will help a tenant like the one with kids screw the landlord over!!

      • JLane says:

Wow… what a colorful past you have had, my friend! I’m guessing that you have a plethora of engaging stories to share! 🙂
Macy is amazing in everything he does, and especially as Frank – Frank is smart, articulate, knows right from wrong, but he’s chosen to ignore the high road and, instead, travel the low road his entire existence. And the whole “blaming Monica for his past transgressions” thing is a HOWL! (And wasn’t Chloe Webb perfect as the bi-polar Monica?! I’ll be looking forward to your recaps as the season moves along…
(Also, I’ve yet to watch “Ray Donovan”, but I’ve heard nothing but grand things! It’s on “the list” of shows to check out on-demand down the road…)

        • VJ says:

I have shows I want to check out on-demand too, if I ever get a chance. So many shows, so little time!

Yes, Chloe Webb was great as Monica but my favorite Shameless character was Grammy Gallagher — no wonder Frank is such a mess!

Ray Donovan has that Catholic guilt thing going on along with the alcoholism and the Irish charm. And whereas, in Shameless, even the mothers are questionable creatures, the Donovan mother was good so that is probably why it is my favorite. The conflicts that come from having one very good parent and one very bad one is an extra layer in that show that I know too well.
