Panthers and Senators Combine for 167 Penalty Minutes in 5-0 Florida Victory

The Florida Panthers shutout the Ottawa Senators 5-0 in Ottawa on November 27th in a game that featured 167 penalty minutes assessed (83 on Florida and 84 on Ottawa). About halfway through the third period, a fight broke out and the officials assessed 10 minute misconduct penalties for “everyone on the ice”. With Florida leading 4-0, those players were essentially thrown out of the rest of the game.

Sam Reinhart had a pair of power play goals for Florida, and Aleksander Barkov had three assists. This was the first meeting of these two teams this season, and there are three more left. The next game isn’t until February 20th, so there’s plenty of time to cool down.
