Mike Trout Homers Twice as Angels End Athletics’ Winning Streak

The Los Angeles Angels’ Mike Trout has been doing quite well since rejoining the club on August 4th after the birth of his first child. Trout was four for five at the plate with two homers and three RBIs in the Angels’ 10-9 win over the Oakland Athletics on August 10th. The win by L.A. ended Oakland’s nine game winning streak.

Trout is hitting .367 with six homers and 10 RBIs and a 1.373 OPS in his seven games in August. Throw in the six games he played in July before going on leave, and Trout has seven homers, 14 RBIs, a .333 average and a 1.124 OPS for the season. The Angels are just 6-11 after the win, but with the expanded playoffs which include the top two teams in each division plus two more at large teams with the next best records, and a short season, a well placed hot streak can vault them into playoff contention quickly. L.A. is six games behind Oakland and 3 1/2 behind second place Houston.
