Michigan Beats Villanova in Rematch of Championship Game

It doesn’t make up for losing the National Championship game, but #18 Michigan got a little revenge against #8 Villanova, the team that beat the Wolverines last April for the NCAA Men’s Basketball title. On November 14th, Michigan pounded the Wildcats 73-46 on Villanova’s home floor, no less.

Michigan completely outplayed Villanova in the first half on both ends of the floor. The Wolverines took a 44-17 lead into the locker room at the end of the first half. Each team scored 29 points in the second half and Michigan had a lopsided 73-46 victory to improve to 3-0 on the season. Villanova is 2-1.

Although Michigan lost three of its top four scorers from last season, the Wolverines are again expected to serious contenders for the Big Ten title. Villanova lost four players to the NBA draft, but, like Michigan, are expected to be contenders for their conference (Big East) championship. There have been a lot of changes throughout the Big East, so the race there is up in the air.
