WHO IS ANN SULLIVAN?

Anne Sullivan was Helen Keller’s famous teacher. She is the one “The Miracle Worker” applies to. Sullivan became Keller’s teacher in 1887 and developed a close relationship with the blind and deaf girl that would last for the rest of Sullivan’s life. From Wikipedia: On October 15, 1936, [Sullivan ]had a coronary thrombosis, fell into a coma, and died five days later at the age of 70 … with Keller holding her hand…. Sullivan was cremated and her ashes interred in a memorial at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. She was the first woman to be recognized for her achievements in this way. When Keller died in 1968, she was cremated as well and her ashes were interred alongside those of Sullivan.

Sam thought it might be Clara Barton (d. 1912). He bet and lost all of his 8,800 points.

Amy went with Mary Baker Eddy (d. 1910). She lost 5,000, dropping her down to 9,800.

Andrew had no response and he bet nothing so he won the match with 37,600.

WHAT IS LILLIPUT?

The quote in FJ! comes from “Gulliver’s Travels”. It’s in Part I, A Voyage to Lilliput, Chapter III, where the Emperor of Liiliput’s dominions are described, followed by many lofty descriptions of the Emperor himself like “at whose nod the princes of the earth shake their knees”. The Emperor then sets out a number of rules he wants the “man-mountain” (Gulliver) to perform.

On the Secretary of State TS with William Tecumseh’s bro, why did they need a more specific? There was only one Secretary of State with that last name. Jennings, of all people, should have been the first to point that out. That’s was the reasoning behind his FJ! response of “Jones” being accepted in his first game
