Manny Pacquiao Plans Return to Boxing

After defeating Timothy Bradley Jr. by a unanimous decision back on April 9th, Manny Pacquiao announced he would be retiring from boxing to focus on his other job as a senator in the Philippines. That retirement didn’t last long. On July 12th, promoter Bob Arum told ESPN that Pacquiao was coming out of retirement to fight in late October or early November.

Arum is trying to secure a venue in Las Vegas to host the fight. Pacquiao is prioritizing his senate work, so boxing will be his side gig, and his training and boxing schedule will have to be worked in around his senate schedule.

Pacquiao’s record is 58-6-2, but he has lost three of his last seven fights, including that dream matchup with Floyd Mayweather back in May of 2015. No opponent has been lined up as of yet. It probably won’t be Mayweather, as he too is now retired. On the other hand, if there were enough dollars on the table, who knows?
