Lightning Wins and Advances to Stanley Cup Finals in Search of Three Peat
Stephen Stamkos scored twice and goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy made 20 saves on 21 shots on goal as the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the New York Rangers 2-1 on June 11th, in the NHL Eastern Conference Finals and taking the best of seven series 4-2. The two time defending Stanley Cup champs will attempt to make it three straight Cups when they take on the Colorado Avalanche in the Finals beginning June 15th in Denver.
The Rangers had taken a 2-0 lead in the series, but Tampa Bay stormed back with four straight victories. Tampa Bay will try to be the first team to win three straight Stanley Cups since the New York Islanders won four in a row from 1980-83. Colorado won both its games with Tampa Bay during the regular season; of course, the Rangers swept Tampa Bay in their regualar season series as well.
