Jeopardy! Wins Outstanding Game Show (Daytime Emmys 2017)

Jeopardy! picked up another Daytime Emmy to add to its already Emmy-packed award showcase shelves at the 44th Annual Daytime Emmys on April 30, 2017.

The other nominees in the Best Game Show category were The Price Is Right, Family Feud, Let’s Make a Deal and Celebrity Name Game. Last year, The Price Is Right picked up the award, but this year, Jeopardy! won for the 16th time in this category.

You can see that moment (at 32:43) in the video from @DaytimeEmmys below. The award was presented by comedian, Margaret Cho and TV personality, Ross Matthews. They, of course, had to go with a “La La Land” fake-out before announcing “What is Jeopardy!?” as the winner. Executive producer, Harry Friedman, accepted the award and took the opportunity to honor the 6-game winning streak of the late Cindy Stowell, who he said taught the show’s staff “a lesson in courage and determination,” and gave a shout out to Alex Trebek (in the audience) for his “usual flair and class.” He also thanked the incredible staff and all of us Jeopardy! viewers for enjoying and learning from the show all these years.

Family Feud’s Steve Harvey won the award for Outstanding Game Show Host, beating out Alex Trebek, Pat Sajak, Craig Ferguson and Wayne Brady. That was presented (at 1:59:37 in the video) by Nancy O’Dell and Kevin Frazier of Entertainment Tonight (they picked up a Daytime Emmy for the show in Outstanding Entertainment News Program later).
