Golden Knights Win 10th Straight Game

The Vegas Golden Knights have clinched a playoff berth, and are moving closer to securing the best record in the NHL West. They are also the hottest team in the league, and went into their game April 28th with a nine game winning streak. This would be put to the test by the Colorado Avalanche, the second place team in the division; the Avalanche have also clinched a post season berth, but still have their sights set on winning the division.

That task got harder. Max Pacioretty scored two goals and had an assist as the Golden Knights cruised to a 5-2 victory over Colorado in Las Vegas. Mark Stone added a goal and two assists for Vegas, and Marc-Andre Fleury had 35 saves and improved his record to 22-10-0 with a 2.08 goals against average. With this 10th win in a row, Vegas improved to 35-11-2 (72 points), while Colorado is 31-12-4 (66 points). But the Avalanche have now lost three straight, and have just nine games left to make up that six point deficit. Colorado has one more game at Vegas, on May 10th. The Avalanche do have a favorable schedule otherwise, with four games each against San Jose and Los Angeles, the 6th and 7th place teams in the division. Colorado must also keep an eye on Minnesota; the 3rd place Wild are just one point behind the Avalanche.
