It wasn’t a good week for Final Jeopardy clues, with 3 clues stumping the entire panel. We chose Thursday’s as the hardest. It would have been a lot easier with a different category or, perhaps, a mention of Humphrey Bogart in the clue. The easiest clue was Friday with a character name from a well-known novel right in the clue. Monday’s was runner-up easy. Dark poetry, the 19th century. Yeah. By the way, there’s another group of poets known as the “Graveyard Poets,” so the author of “The Raven” didn’t have a corner on the morbidity market. They were 18th century poets.
Almost all the payouts this week were over $20K. That must have delighted Mr. Trebek. Returning champ Alexandra Henkoff didn’t get a second win when she came up against, Osman Syed, who scored the week’s top payday. He lost his second game to Geoff Brousseau. On Wednesday, Josh Hill took the honors and continued to win the rest of the week, with a 3-day total of $82,886 on Friday. He’ll be back in 2 weeks, after the Teachers Tournament. Jeopardy! has the lineups for next week over here already.
Osman’s winnings put him on the Top 10 payouts of Season 34 list.
Here are 4 clues from the “Down by the River” category in Friday’s game.
