This week was almost a repeat of last week, with only one triple stumper and no triple solves, only there were 6 correct answers altogether last week. Only 5 this week. But we had something we haven’t seen in a while — 2 $40K+ winners.
Brad Nehring was the returning champ on Monday but didn’t win a second game. Christine Kim won 2 games but Marissa Edelman beat her on Wednesday. On Thursday, Karen Ash became champ and won on Friday, too.
Once again, no one who qualified for the TOC. Karen won’t be back for two weeks because of the Teachers’ Tournament, but the winner of that tournament automatically qualifies for the TOC.
unless that student is albert einstein. but seriously, sometimes there are blackouts that are just unbelievable.
now, take karen and that jfk clue. i like karen, she is smart, on her toes and everything. but at that clue she did not blurt out the answer, she was thinking and thinking when it all came really down to: three years are approximately how many days in a round, even number?
i can’t believe that she does not know when jfk took office and when he was assassinated. i am really curious what her train of thought was there?? ah well, another mystery.
FYI, Karen answered your remarks on the recap.
It didn’t ring a bell with her so she took a guess. I really don’t see how it’s any worse than the Hinckley DD where Cate said she knew who it was but refused to take a guess. Stuff happens, as you know — you misunderstood the FJ clue 2x this week yourself.
This was my top like on category titles this week:
DON’T BE A DUMAS
runnerup (but not really close)
FINNISH HIM!
@Cece – I fixed the image so if you still see it saying 1x, refresh the page
I don’t remember the category titles anymore, but your picks sound good – really clever ones! Brad losing on Monday by $1 still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Ugh!
On an unrelated topic, I’m finally going to see “The Theory of Everything” tonight. It only took me 2 months to get around to it.
That’s longer than it’s taken you to get on Twitter.
That’s one of the things I miss about you here, Eric – your charming sense of humor :):)
(Though I know you’re only half-joking this time.)
Aww. That’s truly a nice thing to say! Thank you Cece!
Of course, I must point out that you do know where (@ejs921) to find more (perceived) insight, although it is (way) more snarky and (way) less punches are pulled. It is, however, a bastion of intellectual liberalism: all, even contrasting, opinions of the worthy are welcome.
VJ – Oops! You wrote 1X $49,600 under Karen, instead of 2X. :):)
Please know that I REALLY love your recaps. Thanks!
Have a nice weekend!
Thanks Cece. I would say I really ought to stop doing this stuff so late but sometimes it’s the only time I have :-0
And I would say I really am amazed how you manage to do all this work with virtually no mistakes 🙂
What a week this was on Jeopardy. It appears Tuesday’s game drew the most comments at 45 (VJ I’m including your comments in the count because the total shows that number).
FJ clues were a challenge for contestants overall this week yielding a mere 33% correct compared to 40% last week and the week before that week. Is it the way the fj clues are written or is it the contestants?
My opinion is if one person got it correct it couldn’t have been that difficult. It’s similar to being in school. If one student gets 100 on a test then the test could not have been that difficult and all of the other students just did not focus enough on the test.
