WHO IS DIANNE FEINSTEIN?

When Senator Dianne Feinstein passed away on 9/29/2023, there was a flurry of articles recalling the one moment in her life that both “motivated and haunted” her. On 11/27/1978, while serving as President of San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors, Feinstein discovered board member Harvey Milk’s dead body after former board member Dan White shot and killed him and Mayor George Moscone. In this video, Dianne Feinstein recalls having the unhappy duty of publicly announcing the assassinations.

Dan White was convicted of manslaughter. He served 5 years of a 7 year sentence and committed suicide 2 years after his release from prison.

Carter came up with Ferraro. That cost him $800 and left him with $3,000.

Rachael got it right. She bet $2,500 and finished with $13,300.

David also got it right. He bet $8,888 and won the game with $39,488. David’s 2-day total is $57,143.

I got FJ (also not a Californian). 2/3 on DD, because I knew it was Turing, as an idea, but couldn’t think of his name (it was “you know, that guy!”)

The resemblance of David to Clint Eastwood is really rather remarkable, at least to my eye!

  2. Howard says:

Surprised no one knew the speaker on the 1933 broadcast.

FJ was a cinch because we’d moved to the Bay Area a few months earlier.
A very momentous time, as the Jonestown massacre also took place that month (many of the victims were from the SF area), and my wife had her first of three miscarriages and the only one that almost killed her. Plus my parents were visiting from NY at the time and we had a 1-year-old. In later months, we learned of Dan White’s “Twinkie defense” for the murders.

It was another great game, and it was clearly a runaway for David. As for me, I was stumped on FJ, but then again, I wasn’t a Californian either.
