WHO IS PERCY JACKSON?

The character Percy Jackson first appeared in bedtime stories Rick Riordan made up for his son, who had a keen interest in Greek mythology. Percy is a demigod, whose father is the Greek god of the sea, Poseidon. His mother is a mortal. Riordan’s son thought his dad should write a book about Percy which led to “The Lightning Thief” (2005). It sold well enough that Riordan was able to devote himself to writing full-time. Percy Jackson and the Olympians evolved into a series that was so popular, films, a musical and a TV series soon followed.

Evan also got it right and bet it all. He doubled his score to $22,000.

Will thought it was Harry Potter. He lost $8,801, dropping down to third place with $4,399. Aiden remains the champ with a 2-day total of $49,599.

I thought the same thing about Will and Second Chance.

I was 1/3 on DD and got FJ. Also, about half the TS. I thought Alisa was NEVER going to be able to ring in!

  2. Howard says:

I have to confess I’ve heard the name Percy Jackson but had no clue who that was. Utterly shocked the English teacher didn’t know Damon’s mythological partner. She’d have ended up with $11400, $400 more than Aiden, and conceivably won the game as it played out. Both Aiden and Alisa gave lame answers to two clues that Will gladly took care of. One was the Top 40, the other one escapes me right now.

    • VJ says:

I was surprised that I got that Damon clue. My mythology knowledge is both rusty and superficial.

      • Howard says:

Same here, never cared for mythology, but that one I knew cold. Like Orpheus and Eurydice, Heloise and Abelard, Icarus and Daedalus, Robin Hood & Maid Marian.

      • VJ says:

Baucis and Philemon was my favorite when I was a kid. I think they had a clue about it once. Also, Jonathan Swift wrote a poem based on it.

  3. Kevin Cheng says:

I hope Will gets invited to Second Chance because he had a strong start and held a big lead at the end of the first round. He led all the way until he got Final wrong and lost.

    • VJ says:

Good call, Kevin. I hope Will gets Second Chance too. I also said Harry Potter but I figured the 2 teachers would know it being around kids and all.
