Round 2 Categories: Shark Week – On This Day: July 26 – “Ista” Me! – 1960s TV – Shakespearean Double Blank Verse – Make It Snappy

Jason found the last Daily Double in “Shark Week” under the $1,600 clue, with 5 clues worth $3,600 left after it. In the lead with $30,600, he had $27,400 more than Maggie in second place. They weren’t doing so hot in this category, so he only bet $1,000. He took a guess with what sounded like “ray shark.” That was WRONG.
Shark Week divers encounter a rare sight, a bigeye type of this shark named for a motion its tail makes as it whips its prey. show
Jason finished with a runaway $30,800. Maggie and Michael were next, tied at $3,200.
NONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
The Irish Post has an article with “12 Facts about the ship that saved Titanic’s survivors” on April 12, 1912, detailing the heroic actions of Captain Arthur H. Roston and the crew of the RMS Carpathia. The ultimate fate of the Carpathia itself is related in No. 10: “On the morning of July 17th, 1918, it was struck by a German U-Boat torpedo in the Celtic Sea and began to sink. The ship’s captain and crew abandoned ship, escaping in lifeboats thanks to the protective force of the nearby HMS Snowdrop.”
An FJ from 2002: FAMOUS SHIPS: In 1999 the wreck of this ship, known for its historic 1912 rescue effort, was discovered 120 miles off England
Michael went with the Lusitania. He lost his $3,198 bet, leaving him with two bucks.
Maggie wrote down something that Alex said looked like “Doria Gay” or “Doria Goy.” He got a hearty laugh when he quipped “It’s a non-Jewish ship.” Maggie bet and lost everything.
Jason had “the Brittania.” He lost $3,200, winning the game with $27,600. His 6-day total is $137,300. Wow! Jason will return for his 7th game in September.
A triple stumper from each round:
VENICE ($600) During one season, the winter of 1678, this baroque music master was born in Venice
ON THIS DAY: JULY 26 ($2000) Despite objections from the Pentagon, on July 26, 1948 Harry Truman issued an Executive Order telling the military to do this
2 years ago: NONE of the players got this FJ in “21st Century Thought”
The title subject of a 2007 bestseller, it was discovered in Australia where today it’s a state emblem. show
Thanks to all my visitors and commenters for hanging out on Fikkle Fame with me for another Jeopardy! season and what a season it was! James Holzhauer’s run was the fantastic high point. Alex Trebek’s pancreatic cancer announcement was the horrible low point. Let’s continue to send prayers and positive thoughts to Alex as he bravely battles his way to complete remission.

@Kevin Cheng, today is the start of Season 36! Are you excited 😜?
Bye for now, Jason.
Season 35 ended in the worst way possible: ANOTHER TRIPLE STUMPER. Oh, if James Holzhauer would’ve remained throughout, he would’ve guessed it right. And then begins six weeks of re-runs before he comes back for his 7th. He will join in the 2020 ToC, to say the least, but what a season it was. Hope to see you all again come September.
I didn’t understand the quip about the non-Jewish ship … Please explain ?!
Nancy, “goy” means not Jewish. (plural: goyim, in case you’ve heard that) Check it out on wikipedia
Thank you!
Can’t believe another season of Jeopardy has ended. VJ, “third” Jacob’s and JJ’s comments, you are definitely the hostess with the mostess! Thanks for everything you do and for making Jeopardy so much more enjoyable and informative than it already is.
And tonight we even had a wine clue for Grape!!
And “Hit the Road Jax” appeared in the first Daily Double LOL!
Thanks, Rhonda , Jacob and JJ. I so appreciate it and I thank you all for all the fun we’ve had throughout this season. It’s been a blast!
Rhonda, that was so cool to see Jax’s fav song in the DD and I’m amazed that you remembered that! You were not left out by any means today — wait till you see the Best Ever recap!!
OMG, a group of wild rabbits, that’s too funny, VJ! The very last question of the game, too!
Right, Rhonda? It’s getting to the point where they’re stalking you and your relatives now. 🤣🤣🤣
It coitenly is, VJ!
Congratulations Jason on your 6th win champ. See you season 36.
@VJ, I second JJ comments. You are fantastic. The hostess with the mostess. You work hard and keep Fikkle Fame interesting for all of us. Season 35 was the best yet imo and you rose to the challenge in each recap. Thank you.
This was just a really hard week, with only 4 correct responses, and 3 Triple Stumpers. I hate them, but at least, we had a player sweep a week, and Jason Zuffranieri is now a 6-Day Champion with $137,300. Will he be lucky on his 7th game? We’ll find out in September.
Although we had a triple solve on Tuesday, I agree that this was a hard week for FJ!’s, but Jason Zuffranieri is the first player to have swept Week 46 of the season in 10 years, when Stefan Goodreau did it in 2009 (season 25).
Yes, but Jason Zuffranieri won more games & more money than Stefan Goodreau.
Wow this is such a great end to the season but still if the clue pointed them to the titanic sinking of 1912, they would have gotten this one. I mean there were two movies back in 1995 and 1997 that showed the carpathia saving the 705 passengers. This was by far the best season with streakers making big bucks. And thank you VJ for sharing the recaps of season 35. Looking forward to season 36. Much appreciated. Congrats to Jason being a six time winner. By the way I liked how james holzhauer changed jeopardy with his big win, what about you what were your favorite moments of this season?
@VJ – Thank you, my dear friend, for yet another amazing season of Fikkle Fame – THE most informative & entertaining J! recap (and many other awesome things to read and enjoy!) site on the world wide web and beyond!
Your daily workload is almost impossible to fathom and you do it in a style and with a grace that is second to none… Kick back, relax & enjoy the grandkids for a few weeks. You HAVE earned it! 😊
Today is the last game of Season 35. Congrats to Jason, a 6 day champion with $137,300. He will enjoy 6 weeks of summer. Season 36 will begin on September 9th. On Monday, we will be seeing a rerun of the 2018 Teen Tournament.
