In Jane Austen’s 1813 novel “Pride and Prejudice”, Fitzwilliam Darcy is the owner of the Derbyshire estate, Pemberly. Darcy represents the “Pride” part of the novel’s title, while Elizabeth Bennet, the woman he falls in love with, represents the “Prejudice” part. These are the two flaws the pair must overcome in order to fulfill that famous “happily ever after” cliché of true romance. Here’s one of the “proud” quotes about Mr. Darcy from Elizabeth’s father: Mr. Bennet: “We all know him to be a proud, unpleasant sort of man; but this would be nothing if you really liked him.”

Rachel thought it was Mr. Bennet. That cost her $3,000 and left her with $3,600.
John came up with Prudence. He lost his $4,000 bet and finished with $5,400.
Matt wrote down Rochester. He lost $8,000 but won the game with the remaining $20,000. Matt Amodio’s 3-day total is $101,400.

Wow, great job Matt! $101,400 in 3 days is $33,800 per day!
As I recall, one of the answers last night concerned a movie with something about a tiger. Can anyone remember the answer? Thank you.

Rachel: What is India?
I thought matt was another ken jennings but when matt missed the final i realized that matt probably won’t win more than 20 games. Literature is a huge deal on the show and matt showed his achilles elbow with the mr darcy miss.
Amazing what minutiae the brain can retain. I’ve never read or watched anything by Jane Austen, but my wife was a big fan of every iteration of “Pride and Prejudice.” So I took a stab at “Mr. Darcy,” even though I had no idea exactly who he was (probably the love interest).
Tonight’s challengers were decent, but no match for Matt, who steamrolled them a la Holzhauer and Jennings.
I came up with ‘The Great Gatsby’ so I was way off. Oh well!
Even though things didn’t work out in FJ!, Matt Amodio is still the 15th player to have won at least $100,000 in 3 days.
Tough FJ as we finished the week with a triple stumper. As usual, nobody knows about literary characters.
If anyone here reads pride and prejudice, this wasn’t a tough final because in 2005 Kiera Knightly and Judi Dench starred in the movie based on the book. Mr Bennet wasn’t a bad guess but Prudence is from Parasol Protectorate and does not have a guy owning a house. With a 100K win under matt’s belt, this is the third highest payout win since James Holzhauer also passed that big number as well, I think he definitely has a good shot at hitting 200K VJ.
Well we finished the week with a tough FJ! but Matt has made it to the 100,000 mark in just 3 games and we are only 3 weeks away until the season 37 finale of Jeopardy!
