WHAT IS “WICKED”?
The original Broadway cast recording of “Wicked” featuring Kristin Chenoweth (Glinda) and Idina Menzel (Elphaba) debuted in December 2003. The release of the film version of the musical in November 2024 fueled a chain reaction that sent the soundtrack soaring from No. 79 to No. 33 on the December 7, 2024 Billboard 200 albums chart.
News outlets at the time riffed off the a top song from the album to report that the album was “Defying Gravity”.
Josh got it right. He bet $3,000 and finished with $11,200.
Sean came up with “Rent”. He bet and lost his whole $9,871.

Missed the pre-interview part of the game. Good contest. Kudos to Josh for his comeback. I really thought he’d get that 2nd DD, it wasn’t hard (and neither was the first). I said “Rent” for FJ but knew that lease would be quickly broken. “Wicked” seems so obvious in hindsight.
I think Matt accidentally pulled a Cliff Calvin. He should not have risked more than 2,400 but he did. He would have fallen below Josh’s doubled score if he missed and Josh was correct.
Is that the same as saying Matt would have lost if Sean had FJ! right?
Asking for a friend…
No. Sean’s maximum score would have been $19742. Matt had $18800, so he should have wagered no more than about $1000 which, as Kevin pointed out, still would have locked out Josh IF Josh had gone all-in and gotten Final correct ($16400 compared to $17800 for Matt if Matt missed Final). Because Matt got Final correct, there’s no way Sean could have won, even with a correct answer.
I always confuse talus and think it’s the heel but confess big toe was pretty funny. Enjoy your nap, VJ. and thanks for all you do.
Impressive catch-up work by Josh. Congrats on nabbing the extra grand with the right FJ! response.
Meantime, a big congrats to Matt. He proved he doesn’t need a big Daily Double win to come out on top. (But it sure helped yesterday when FJ! was a triple stumper!)
P.S. That big toe response for talus in Latin was funny as hell. According to Google translate, you can use pollex for the big toe and the thumb.
Now I have to go take a nap because I have to babysit this evening. If I made any mistakes, I’ll have to fix ’em later.
