TWO of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
WHAT IS “Ô CANADA”?
Back on 9/17/2019, in Jason Zuffranieri’s 13th game, this was the Final Jeopardy! clue: “With lyrics by Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier, it debuted on June 24, 1880, at a celebration of St. Jean Baptiste Day.” The category was National Anthems then, too. I had a lot of info about “O Canada” in that recap, including a link to another post that shows all the countries with national anthems in more than one language.
Here’s what I did not have that is pertinent to today’s FJ!: “Terre de nos aieux” means “land of our ancestors” It is also the title of Togo’s national anthem, which has several translations in local languages. (It’s not listed on the 70 National Anthems post because Togo’s anthem was not in the video.)
Angela wrote down “God Save the Queen”. That didn’t cost her a single loonie because she stood pat at $600.
Enver got it right. He bet $8,000. That brought him up to $17,800.
Mattea got it right, too. But first, Ken said: “Now as we come to our Canadian champion, I should point out the Final Jeopardy! clues are written weeks or months in advance and randomly selected so we never know when they’re going to land.” Mattea bet $4,999 and won the game with $29,599. Her 21-day total is $506,584, as she goes over the half million mark. Mattea has now surpassed Julia Collins, one of her most admired Jeopardy! contestants, not only in money won but in number of games as well.
A triple stumper from each round:
LET’S GO TO THE AUTO SHOP ($200) If your car’s engine uses this type of fuel, don’t look for the spark plugs; it uses glow plugs

A $200 TS – “glow plugs”. Really?
Once again, had hopes for a challenger, but, Enver couldn’t get there. Bummer.
The two DDs that Mattea got were softballs. It’s like they set it up for her. I know they didn’t, but, still.
congrats to our champion on winning this game and surpassing Julia. Also happy to see Enver getting this as well.
