WHO ARE PHOBOS & DEIMOS?

From Theoi Greek Mythology website: “DEIMOS and PHOBOS were the gods or personified spirits (daimones) of fear. Deimos represented terror and dread, while his brother Phobos was panic, flight and rout. They were sons of the war-god Ares who accompanied their father into battle, driving his chariot and spreading fear in his wake. As sons of Aphrodite, goddess of love, the twins also represented fear of loss.” They also have quotes from classical literature about the scary duo.

The moons of Mars were named after Phobos and Deimos. Among other things, this little video explains why they look more like potatoes than moons.

Tara came up with Bert & Ernie. “Oh, you are so close” Trebek exclaimed, “so close! But we just can’t give it to you.” She didn’t bet anything so she stayed at $5,400.

Luke went with “Caspor & Pollux,” which Trebek read as “Casper the Friendly Ghost & Pollux” because it’s Castor. Luke lost $13,300 and dropped all the way down to $100.

Josh got it right. He bet $9,801 and won this match with $26,801. His 6-day total is $144,120.

And when’s the last time we’ve had a contestant eliminated from Final J because of a negative score?

  2. Louis says:

I was laughing my head off at Tara’s response of Bert and Ernie in the final round. Like really? They are sesame street characters not Greek mythology. Don’t know what she was thinking but I can only give her creativity. But still Casper is a disney character. That response had to be the worst since the goku response from Brian Halvanaka in Seth Wilson’s second game from 2016. Plus deimos and phobos are moons in the game Doom.

    Congrats to josh once again.

@Lou, idk who put the Casper cartoons on TV, but I’m pretty sure he was a Harvey Comics character and that had nothing to do with Disney. Anyhow, Luke didn’t think it was the ghost — he just got Castor and Casper mixed up, and that was Trebek’s way of pointing it out. Tara’s Bert & Ernie response was great!
