Teresa found the first Daily Double in “Lakes & Rivers” under the $2,000 clue on the 5th pick of the round. She was in last place with $2,200, $6,400 less than Brian’s lead. Teresa bet $2,000 and went with Lake Geneva. That was WRONG.

Teresa got the last Daily Double in “Transportation, in Various Forms” under the $800 on the 17th pick of the round. In last place with $3,400, she had $11,600 less than Brian’s lead. Teresa bet $3,000 and had half of it but that was not enough so it was WRONG.

1989’s Best Picture “Driving Miss Daisy” was nominated for 9 Oscars. The three characters in Alfred Uhry’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play were Miss Daisy, her son Boolie and chauffeur Hoke Colburn. On film, they were portrayed by Jessica Tandy, Dan Aykroyd and Morgan Freeman. Tandy won Best Actress, while Daniel Day-Lewis (“My Left Foot”) won Best Actor over Morgan Freeman and 3 others. Denzel Washington (“Glory’) won Best Supporting Actor over Dan Aykroyd and 3 others. Interestingly, Morgan Freeman was the original Hoke in the 1987 off-Broadway play, a fact that was covered in this 1997 Jeopardy! clue:

Teresa thought it was “Glengarry Glen Ross”. She bet and lost her whole $400.

    Poor Teresa did herself no favors with those sloppy responses on both easy DDs. Also one early on in the “National” category when her response didn’t contain the word. She looked a bit nervous.

    The champ is a formidable force and could be around for awhile. Very confident and self-assured.

    This FJ was an easy solve for any movie fan. P ky three Best Picture winners in the 80’s had three acting nominations – Terms Of Endearment, Ordinary People, and Driving Miss Daisy. The first two were adapted from novels, leaving Driving Miss Daisy as the only possible answer.
