WHAT IS “THE HORSE WHISPERER”?

“The Horse Whisperer” is a novel by British author Nicholas Evans that dominated the bestseller lists in 1995. With 15 million copies sold, it became an all-time bestseller. The story involves the aftermath of a horrific accident suffered by 2 young girls and their horses. 14-year-old Grace Maclean and her horse, Pilgrim, the lone survivors, suffer life-changing traumatic injuries. Tom Booker is a horse whisperer — a specialist in dealing with injured horses. He is called in to help Pilgrim.

Robert Redford bought the movie rights before the book was published. He directed the film and played Tom Booker.

Simon had “The Poisonwood Bible” from 1998, but no Pilgrim or Tom. He lost $1,001 and finished with $6,799.

Jenn went with The Da Vinci Code (2003). That cost her $8,900 and left her with $1,900.

Liam had “A Clockwork Orange” from 1962. He lost a mere $18 and won the game with $20,582 for a 6-day total of $123,584.

Surprised myself by hitting 3/3 DDs (middle one an educated guess), FJ was a mystery, but in hindsight, the clue gave it away somewhat. And seriously, not one player from 2 years ago knew where the lanterns were lit?

The two homophones stumpers were easy, so was the last section of the book/symphony.

Liam is definitely going to get creamed in the TOC. Jenn should not have rung in so often not knowing it. And, had Dr. Liebling (Simon) wagered everything, instead of his paltry $1k, I don’t think Liam would have had a runaway.

What really salted me, though, were the two really bad guesses at FJ. I got FJ, despite neither reading the book nor seeing the film. But, the da Vinci Code? 2006. An arts admin should at least be proximate to that. And, A Clockwork Orange? 1962??

    I was 2/3 on DD.

  3. Rick says:

As usual, tonight’s game was another clear runaway for Liam. As for me, I didn’t do all that well in the game, and the FJ had stumped me.

  4. rhonda says:

No Jeopardy here tonight because of the very annoying NFL draft.

  5. Ismael Gomez says:

That was a tough final as we end the week with a triple stumper.

  6. Kevin Cheng says:

Liam is the third player this season to have swept a week of Jeopardy!
