Excerpt from 50 Popular Beliefs that People Think Are True: “More than anything, Vincent Gaddis’s story, ‘The Deadly Bermuda Triangle,’ in the February 1964 issue of Argosy magazine seems to have launched the myth that continues to tread water against all reason. Argosy would never be confused with National Geographic or New Scientist. It was a magazine that published fiction and sensationalized stories meant to appeal to adventure-minded young men…. (Gaddis) was not a scientist nor was he an expert on marine safety or marine history. None of this is meant to label Gaddis a con man or condemn Argosy for trying to publish interesting and fun stories that were loose with the truth.”

Silvija got it right with the Bermuda . “Showoff,” Alex joked. She bet nothing so she stayed at $2,400.
Wayne bet $7,599. That brought him up to $19,999.
James joked that he was just guessing while Silvija and Wayne knew it. He bet $24,000 and won the game with $73,621. His 15-day total is $1,135,175.
A triple stumper from each round:
CAR TALK ($1000) Introduced in the 1980s, this Ferrari model has a name that means “red head”
SCIENCE CENTRAL ($1600) In 1916 the great chemist Gilbert Lewis called the central part of an atom this, a word we use for the seed in an apricot pit
2 years ago: Only ONE of the players got this FJ in “Historic Homes”

Has James always had a “lock or cinch” at the FJ? And didn’t Jennings have quite a few of those in the 74 games?
A follow up on my Q – what is the percentage of having a lock at the FJ? Does James have a lock 100% of the time at FJ and what was the percentage for Jennings?
He’s not only brilliant, he shows humility every show. Being he’s a gambler, you never know when he could fall hard. I’m enjoying watching his confidence.
Very insane! I think he’s cheating with Alex some how. I havent figured it out yet but I will dammit, i will!
James has so many positive things going for him to explain his success:
He is very fast on the buzzer and has read the clue before Alex is even finished.
I think he smiles less than Ken did. James is concentrated on the task at hand, not easily – if at all – distracted.
His hand/ brain connection is extremely fast as well.
Since the computer takes a split second- based on its database- to “decide” whether to ring in, a 5 day match James v an updated/improved WATSON would be VERY interesting for me…..
Possibly with limits on the payouts…..
James has his own statistics page on Jeopardy.com now —

What an easy Final !!! There are people in group homes who could have answered the Final.
Maybe they are making the final clue so easy, hoping if the other players can get the DDs away from James and one of them finishes in the lead, he or she will be sure to win.
I think James has only missed one FJ (Jane Fonda) but there were only 4 times he was the only one that was right, and one of those times, there were only 2 left to play FJ
Happy to hear during James’ interview today (via Jeopardy’s Facebook page) that he plans on donating winnings to childrens’ charities in Las Vegas (that’s what he mentioned specifically, so he may have plans beyond that).
Although our view into his life and character is very limited from the show and media appearances, this does not surprise me given his apparently humble nature, and I wish him continued success if it enables him to give generously to worthy causes.
Wayne’s local media is going to have an article on how he did later, and he did pretty good, getting one of the DD’s and finishing a buck short of $20K. Congrats on that, Wayne.
I’ve got that Smorgas-word category in the extra clues. Boo hiss on that Dallas spin-off clue. omg! That would have been the only thing that I would have been truly astonished at in this game — if anyone got that clue. lol

I am really curious, when we we will see a really difficult FJ First of all congratulations to James for his 14th runaway in 15 games…He has incredibly fast reflexes, buzzes in at the first possible split second, knowing the answer will come to him in plenty of time. That makes the other 2 player extras. They know probably a lot more than they can show, James just locks them out.
As for the FJ difficulty?Great Salt Lake,Berlin,Quantum Leap, Romanovs, Iwo Jima,Crimea, Bermuda….even with the British Monarchs J! went with the 3 most often used name: Henry, Edward and George….
The only 2 unusual things today: James got only one DD and his total was a little under his average winnings per game. BUT: a win is a win is a win….
Predictions also become easier: everybody who went with a sweep yesterday and today got it right. 2 or 3 correct seems to be the rule right now.
All 3 DDs were easy again, just a little knowledge of Latin and medicine and about one of the most popular cars… It almost looks as if J! WANTS to get rid of some serious money!😁
James got two DD today.
@Marilyn
My bad. Sorry. The unusual thing was that he did not get all 3….😊
today’s win just 11 games ago would have been third best all time, now it’s not even top ten (he now has 9 of top 11)! James is crazy good!
Yes, he is crazy good!! If someone else got that last Daily Double today and James didn’t get to make a big bet, he still would have won this game with over 60 thousand. Amazing.
Another big win for James. Although I would have loved to see silvija bet something since she got final right. Another triple solve since this one was pretty easy. Also VJ and John I’m not sure if you have heard of the rumors of the scary stories about the Bermuda triangle? If this keeps up, James could easily get to 2 million in about 25 games.
To me, the answer to the second daily double was so immediately obvious that I thought it was too obvious to be correct. Perhaps that feeling was due to my science background though.
This is getting insane.
Way too insane.
I’m glad you’re not upset about the curse.
