New champ, Kendra, a registered dietician from Elk Grove, CA, has won $26,401. In Game 2, she takes on these 2 players: Gabriel, a Ph.D student from Toronto, Ontario; and Becca, an attorney from Phoenix, AZ.

WHAT IS BRATISLAVA?

In 1993, Czechoslovakia split into 2 separate countries: the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The Czech Republic kept Prague as its capital and Bratislava became the capital of Slovakia. You can see how close Vienna and Bratislava are, and that Budapest, Hungary is the next capital you can get to in a relatively short period of time. Even before Czechoslovakia split, Prague was not the closest capital city to Vienna.

Gabriel came up with Salzburg, which is in Austria and not a national capital. He lost his $1,785 bet and finished with $15.00.

Becca had Salzburg, too. She lost $3,000 and was left with $4,000.

Kendra went with Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She lost $6,000 but won the game with $14,200. Her 2-day total is $40,601.

Final Jeopardy (12/10/2020) Kendra Blanchette, Gabriel Deroche, Becca Jones

Reversal: ALL ROADS ($400) On Australia’s Great Ocean Road, you may get inspiration from the limestone towers known as this biblical dozen – Alex wanted Gabriel to be more specific with his “Apostles” answer and was specifically looking for “Twelve”. Gabriel said “Christ’s” and Alex called him wrong. The judges decided that because the word “dozen” was in the clue, Gabriel may have thought “twelve” was not needed in the response.

2 triple stumpers from the first round:

LET’S MAKE A SUPERGROUP ($200) On lead guitar, this lefty from Seattle who was a paratrooper before joining up with Noel Redding & Mitch Mitchell

TO LEAD ROME ($1000) The infamous Commodus was the son of this “Golden Era” ruler

Not widely known, but good clue for Geography majors.

Tough final as we got another triple stumper this week. Like I said this before, nobody knows about geography.

That reversal may have worked for gabe today but still a triple stumper will hopefully help Kendra improve her game play tomorrow. He couldn’t build any rhythm but still not tough of a final jeopardy. I thought for sure geography was a strong subject for the contestants. If you guys remember David Madden was very good at that.
