I just don’t get modern players not hunting for daily doubles. Any opponent could get lucky by hitting one and doubling up and all of a sudden it becomes a close game. I feel like it’s more a matter of time before that happens to Mattea, which is a shame because I want her to go on an even lengthier streak.

  2. Jason says:

Yuck! What a stinker. Again, lackluster contestants lead to a boring game. And, Mattea didn’t even go for $21,399, when she had, literally, nothing to lose? Or, bet zero? Plainly, she does not strike me as a “super champion” type. As I said before, she does not go deep into the TOC.

  3. Jacob Ska says:

Our local TV station, which is out of Philadelphia, covered the rarity of Mattea being the only contestant left standing at the podium for fj. The station showed the fj footage at 11:30 p.m. and mentioned that it is rare but it does happen. We live outside of Philly but it’s stations are our newsfeed courtesy of Comcast.

  4. Martin says:

The clue, ‘A legendary surfing spot ‘Ehukai Beach on Oahu’s North Shore is known as this pipeline, a Japanese cheer.’
    The answer, ‘What is Banzai?’
However, the wave shown in the video, a right break, was not Banzai Pipeline which is a left.

  5. Howard says:

Thanks to all who pointed out the rarity of losing two players for FJ. I was curious.

FJ was fairly easy if you paid attention during the peak of the pandemic when that site was so popular. This game was over before the first commercial.

Lots of toughies today. Surprised no one got MRE, but that’s a pretty ancient expression. Also knew the MIT/Tufts county and the NYC Marriott hotel. Helped to be from the Northeast.

Me too Howard i also got the hotel one and the mit county. Did you get the clues on law and order and the flash plus that VAF clue?

  6. Jacob Ska says:

Shocking finale. Never saw this coming. This is why VJ & I always write “or however many left standing” when we predict a triple solve on COTD in the mornings. As VJ stated in her recap this has happened before. It will happen again but when no one knows.

Mattea is a powerful champion. I enjoy watching her play. Can’t wait to see the game this evening. The next Tournament is going to be loaded with very sharp contestants. Will be must see TV. 🤤

  7. Lou says:

Those triple stumpers on the next page I recognize because as a fan of the long running tv series on NBC and the WB, I still find those actors and actresses having a good time on them. Yes I also have been to Cape Cod so many times. One was camping at a couple of state parks and the other was enjoying martha’s vineyard and bicycling around Nantucket. Those places brought back so many great memories and I will definitely consider going there again soon.

  8. Lou says:

Aw too bad that Loni and Sean couldn’t play final today, but still this is probably the third time that we had a single player since Kevin Walsh and Kristen Sausville. I’ve never seen this happen with super champs in the past before. Also VJ, I noticed that that Mattea is 8/12 for final jeopardy so far so if my math is right that means she only missed 4 final jeopardy clues but I can sense that her confidence is building up. There wasn’t much competition for her today and I would really like to see Mattea getting a good challenge tomorrow, don’t you want to see that happen as well?

This was a good clue for final today, I always wanted to try and take voice acting someday.

  9. Ismael Gomez says:

The clues weren’t nice to Loni and Sean.

  10. Kevin Cheng says:

How many times on Jeopardy that we had a single player FJ? We know the most recent one was 10/13/20 and before that was 3/12/15. Also, it’s good to show who gets second and who gets third.

      Michael Day in 1985
      Beryl Arbit in 1986
Jeff Richmond in 2005 Ultimate Tournament of Champions
      Kristin Sausville in 2015
      Kevin Walsh in 2020
      Mattea Roach
