Final Jeopardy: Recent Movie Songs (4-20-20)

Today’s Final Jeopardy question (4/20/2020) in the category “Recent Movie Songs” was:

In Oct. 2019 this song, a duet, was still in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart after spending a year on the chart

2x champ Felicity Flesher, a screenwriter from Studio City, CA, won $32,200 in the last two games before the College Championship. In Game 3, she is up against: Ben Sonday, a quantitative development trader from Chicago, IL; and Andrew Cramer, a program manager from Seattle, WA.

Andrew found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “A History of Charity” under the $400 clue on the 15th pick of the round. He was in the lead with $3,400, $1,600 more than Felicity in second place. “Let’s dance, let’s make it a true Daily Double,” he said. Evidently, Alex was anticipating a James Holzhauer “all in” move. Andrew got it RIGHT and doubled his score.

Andrew finished in the lead with $8,000. Felicity was second with $4,000 and Ben was last with $600.

Round 2 Categories: Flee Circus – Sports Talk – Doggone Words – Country of the Bridge – “I Am” a Title – The Electoral College

Ben found the first Daily Double in “Country of the Bridge” under the $1,600 clue on the second pick. He was in third place with $1,800 now, $6,200 less than Andrew’s lead. He made it a true Daily Double and took a shot with Mexico. That was WRONG.

6 clues later, Ben landed on the last Daily Double in “The Electoral College” under the $800 clue. In second place with $1,600, he had $2,800 less than Andrew’s lead. He went with a Daily Double again and, this time, he was RIGHT.

Felicity finished in the lead with $6,800. Andrew was next with $5,200 and Ben was in third place with $2,800.

Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.

WHAT IS “SHALLOW”?

Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s “Shallow” duet is the lead song of the soundtrack of “A Star is Born” (2018). The song won the Best Original Song Oscar at the Academy Awards on 2/24/2019 for Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt. That was the third musical remake of “A Star is Born”. “Evergreen” or “Love Theme from A Star is Born” from the 1976 film version, starring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson, also won the Best Original Song Oscar for Streisand and Paul Williams.

Harold Arlen and Ira Gershwin’s “The Man that Got Away” from the 1954 version, starring Judy Garland and James Mason, was nominated for Best Original Song but lost to “Three Coins in a Fountain.” However, the American Film Institute (AFI) ranked “The Man that Got Away” No. 11 on its list of 100 Greatest Songs in American Movies“. “Evergreen” made that list, too, at No. 16. Perhaps “Shallow” will be added in a future update.

Ben got it right. He bet $401 and finished with $3,201.

Andrew wrote down “What is Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper duet?” That was true, but not on the money. He lost his $1,601 bet and finished with $3,599.

Felicity came up with “Into the Deep.” That cost her $3,700 and left her with $3,100. That made Andrew Cramer the new Jeopardy! champ. This sure was a wild game of ups and downs after the first round!

Really tough boards tonight, and erratic play as a result. I did get “Shallow” and knew 5 of the stumpers. No one could get any traction tonight.

That was hilarious on how Andrew said let’s dance in today’s game but I would have commended him for that fj response since he has that buzzy cohen playing style.with a mix of james holzhauer added in, VJ. I am not surprised by the amount of triple stumpers since the college championship game. How many of the literary clues did the players get? Lots of tough material today.

It was also very cute when Ben tried to ring in twice on the last clue in Double Jeopardy! But, holy smokes, Ben bet everything he had on his Daily Doubles. I was really not expecting that tiny bet from him in FJ!
