TWO of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.

WHAT IS ECUADOR?

AmusingPlanet.Com says: “Although the equator runs through hundreds of places, one country that takes particular pride in its unique geographical location is Ecuador. In fact, the official name of Ecuador – the Republic of Ecuador literally translates to “Republic of the Equator”. Its capital city of Quito, lies smack in the middle of the imaginary line.” Obviously, putting Quito in the clue would have made it way too easy, so they went with Guayllbamba, a rural parish in the Metropolitan District of Quito, located approximately 18 miles northeast of the capital.

Sporcle Challenge: Name all the countries that the equator runs through.

Londyn got it right. She bet it all and finished with $14,000.

Joe came up with Argentina. He bet the whole $13,400 and lost it all.

Nibir got it right, too. He bet $4,401 and won the finalist spot with $26,801. One more to go!

Ay caramba! I think Joe connected the ‘bamba” ending of the town to “pampa” and from what I’ve seen today, it is another spelling of pampa.

The guys are too quick for londyn to catch up. A great game so far. This could be an all male final. I hear that the llamas are very popular in Quito Ecuador just because of the name in the recap.

  3. Richard Corliss says:

Londyn couldn’t get any rhythm going today. The guys were just too fast.

  4. Richard Corliss says:

I have a feeling it’s gonna be an all male final because Marshall and Nathaniel are gonna be faster than Xiaoke.

True, and only 3 of the 8 girls made the semis, whereas 6 of the 7 boys did. I was pulling for Londyn.
