With the Corona going around Trebek should just retire. I would.

I thought this was a relatively easy FJ–quite shocking it proved to be a Triple Stumper. My poor dear Mother bought me a cardboard-piece map of North America before I started school with first grade, so I knew all 10 provinces and both territories (Nunavat was cut from NWT in 1999 as a giveback to the indigenous peoples from whom Canada was taken). BCHASMO is a mnemonic device that may help some with the western and prairie provinces. I know that teen eco champion and science/geography nerd Greta Thunberg would have aced this final for sure! 🙂 Canadian-born Alex Trebek would have been proud.
As you know, I’ve seen this happen a lot of times when a Canadian Clue pops up, and the contestants don’t know that much about Canada, and because Alex Trebek was born in Canada, it either breaks Alex’s heart, or makes Alex most likely hate those contestants for the rest of his life, or both.
William, I really don’t think Alex has such extreme reactions when contestants don’t get Canadian geography clues. It’s been pretty rare for a long time for a geography category or FJ! to show up when there are 2 or 3 contestants who are aces in that area, and not just about Canada!
Tough FJ as we end with a triple stumper since nobody knows about geography.
I actually had the same answer as the two ladies. Very tough clue considering that Alberta seems like a much more likely guess for the termination of the ‘Northwest Territories’ than Manitoba, which is in the center of the country.
Well, that’s what I said too… now back to studying the map !!
I actually have Ikea’s 6’6″ x 4’7″ wall map hanging in my apartment. I looked at it in the wee hours of the morning after reading the clue and in a daze convinced myself Alberta was correct. The territorial and provincial boundaries are not very clear on the map.
That’s funny, JP. To have the answer right in front of you! I have a framed map of the world behind the TV in my bedroom and a kid’s world globe on a side cabinet but I slept on the sofa all night.
Kami couldn’t get anything going today and her opponents were quick on the buzzer. I’m not surprised that no one knew much about Canadian provinces. Let’s hope Hermant can build up on his win and end the leader curse. Speaking of that book by Joseph Conrad, there was a similar title in Law and order season 16 VJ. It involved the mysterious death of a journalist named Teague. Did you know that?
Alex must have been disheartened over the “triple stumper” by today’s contestants…
He didn’t seem so, but perhaps he’ll say something snarky about it in tomorrow’s intro .🤣🤣🤣
