WHAT IS NORTH CAROLINA?

December 17, 1928 was the first public anniversary to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Wright brothers’ historic flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina on the same date in 1903. The event was held to lay a corner stone atop Kill Devil Hill, where the brothers first made aviation history. Sadly, Wilbur Wright passed away in 1912 from typhoid fever, so only Orville Wright was on hand to witness the honors. The event was front page news in many newspapers, with Amelia Earhart named first among the famous guests.

December 17 is actually a day of national observation in the United States known as Wright Brothers Day and has been so since 9/21/1959, when President Eisenhower declared it to be Wright Brothers Day. Even before that, in 1939, FDR made Orville’s August 19th birthday National Aviation Day.

Seth got it right. He bet $2,601 and finished with $6,601.

Kimberly got it right after crossing out Missouri. She bet $1,401 and finished with $8,001.

Jamie got it right and had time to draw an NC map under his response. He bet $16,160 and won the game with $45,560. His 13-day total is $360,000.

Jamie is now one win away from tying Harrison’s 14 game streak from earlier this season and Jamie is now #15 in the all-time winnings.

    • GeorgeK says:

I think Jamie will top Harrison’s record. There were a lot of stumpers in the last round of this game, but it seems if it’s too hard for Jamie, nobody knows it. It’s gotten to the point where I feel bad for the challengers.
