WHO IS JAMES BOND?

Monty Norman was a British composer, musician and singer, who is most well-known for the “James Bond Theme” he composed in 1962. Fatherly.com has a list of “5 Things You Didn’t Know About the James Bond Theme Song”. According to No. 4: “Despite the fact that Monty Norman’s ‘James Bond Theme’ appears in all 25 ‘official’ James Bond movies, he only wrote the score for Dr. No. … Because John Barry arranged Monty Norman’s Bond theme for Dr. No, he actually claimed partial authorship of the song many times. This led to several lawsuits.” In one of those lawsuits, Monty Norman supplied figures to the court showing he earned approximately £485,000 in royalties between 1976 and 1999.

Daisy crossed off the start of a response and couldn’t finish another. She lost $2,500 and finished with $2,100.

Melissa went with Lara from “Dr. Zhivago”. That cost her $5,000 and left her with $1,800.

Alec got it right. He bet $305 and won the game with $15,505. Alec Chao is the new Jeopardy! champ.

Ugh! In my area, the Jeopardy game time slot has been frequently overshadowed with basketball games this week, but I hope that will not be the case tonight.

  2. Howard says:

Bond was such an obvious choice, I didn’t think that could be right. Plus I thought John Barry wrote the Bond movie theme.

Pretty good group tonight, but way too many wrong answers. Daisy seemed to be locked out most of the 2nd round. Alec confused Purdue’s home with Notre Dame’s and mysteriously said “At love first sight.” Didn’t matter in the long run.

Melissa has been strong all week on literature questions, so I was surprised she didn’t know the captain of the Caine. She must not have seen Bogart’s memorable performance in the movie as the paranoid captain with the missing strawberries. But she was playing with house money tonight after what happened yesterday.

Ancient history not my thing, but it wasn’t hard to figure out which Roman emperor wanted a statue of himself. I was telling my son earlier today who Mr Kate Upton is. And I’ve heard that “Call to the Post” probably a few thousand times.

Yes, Howard, I was also quite surprised when Melissa said Bligh for the Caine Mutiny captain. As for the Roman emperor, I’m sure they have had clues on this looney and his “boots” nickname before because that’s how I know it. 🤣

Pretty sure William Weyser would say darn those daily doubles to Melissa.
