WHO IS JOHANNES BRAHMS?
In his early 20s, Johannes Brahms conducted a small women’s chorus in his hometown of Hamburg, Germany when a mutual infatuation arose between Brahms and 18-year-old Bertha Porubsky from Vienna. The pair corresponded regularly until Brahms stopped writing. Bertha went on to marry Artur Faber, a wealthy businessman and Brahms remained friends with both of them. The Fabers named their second son Johannes, moving Brahms to compose a lullaby for the boy. That work is known worldwide as “Brahms’ Lullaby”. He wanted Bertha to sing it to the baby, knowing she would recognize the melody of a love song he had cleverly incorporated into the lullaby. It was a song Bertha sang to him in the dawn of their love.
Bertha was not the only woman Brahms took up with, only to disappear when things got too hot for him to handle.
Jason thought it was Haydn. He lost $8,401 and finished with $3,600.
Jordan drew a blank. She lost $8,401 and finished with $4,199.
Jamie got it right. He bet $4,401 and won the game with $25,201. Jamie’s 5-day total is $131,802.

This is the kind of FJ! when you slap your forehead in disbelief if you don’t get it in time. 🤣 I thought they wanted the title of the piece at first but switched to the composer alone in time. I still think they would have accepted Brahms Lullaby, though, since his name’s right there.
Jamie is now qualified for the Tournament of Champions having won 5 games. We’ll see if he can sweep the entire week tomorrow.
