WHO IS PABLO PICASSO?

From PabloPicasso.org: “‘The Death of Casagemas’ is one of several memorials Picasso dedicated to the young painter who had shot himself in Paris on 17 February 1901. The immediate cause of the suicide was Casagemas’s failed love affair with Germaine Gargallo, whom he had met on his first visit to Paris in October 1900…. Picasso was in Madrid at the time of the disaster and it was only after the pressure to produce for his exhibition had lifted that he began to deal with it in his work. The fact that he moved into the very studio on boulevard de Clichy Casagemas was renting at the time of his death intensified his obsession, and he must have chosen Van Gogh as the intermediary for the votive panel because he saw so many parallels between the two men’s tragic lives and violent deaths. Possibly he had heard about, or even seen, Dr Gachet’s touching little drawing of Van Gogh on his deathbed, for it too concentrates on the head, showing it from almost the same angle.”

Morgan bet $10,000 and finished with $21,800.

Jilana bet $11,801, bringing her up to $25,201.

Nick bet $11,601 and won the game with $26,801. Nick Cascone is the new Jeopardy! champ.

This episode was terrible because Morgan lost and I wanted her to become a streaker and instead she took home $1000.

  2. Jeopardy! lover says:

    VJ, Morgan’s 2 Day total is $37,200, not $32,700.

  3. Howard says:

I missed the show, but based on the listed wagers and final totals, Morgan could not have entered Final Jeopardy with $15200.

I’d have loved a shot at some of those stumpers: the Hall of Fame stumper in Game, the Honorary Knight, Nimrod and the 2 Daily Doubles

  4. Albert says:

I did not think Morgan would last long due to her youth. Being in your mid 50s can be a big advantage in certain games.

    • VJ says:

Still, we must give credit where credit is due. She won $37K+ by knowing two things her opponents in 2 games did not know. Then she fell victim to the 2-Game Curse.

At this point, I think we should be making promises to the Jeopardy! gods. Here’s mine — If the next person to win 2 games wins the third game, I won’t post any 🤣🤣🤣 smileys for a week.

Full disclosure: I was rooting for Nick to win today. 🤣🤣🤣

VJ, on a different note—this morning, coincidentally, I was listening to the song Mr. Jones and, for the first time, I noticed the lyrics mention Picasso.

        • VJ says:

that rocks, Cece (pun intended). Imagine if they also had a Bob Dylan clue 😀

        • cece says:

That song sure rocks; it never gets old for me. I would probably have missed the Dylan clue. I always do. 🙂

Thanks so much for posting the youtube video, VJ. Quite interesting and I enjoyed it very much.

    • VJ says:

I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Rhonda. I liked it, too though I usually don’t put up videos that long — that is what the internet has done to my attention span!

  6. Lou says:

Well despite two of the daily doubles not working in Nick’s favor he still had a good score. In fact congrats to everyone getting the triple solve today. We still haven’t had a streaker yet but hopefully Nick can try to break the spell. It’s kind of hard to get a streaker in this month especially with the pandemic.

The P word has not been kind to anybody who wanted to win 3, 4, 5, or more games. Hopefully, that’ll end soon, and the Tournament of Champions Material can go faster, or else, G-d will be forced to tell us when it’s over.
