WHO ARE THE ADDAMS FAMILY?

The Addams Family first appeared in The New Yorker on 8/6/1938. They started out as a group of separate ghoulish characters created by cartoonist Charles Addams. Most of the cartoons had one punchline captions and the characters didn’t even have names. In the 1960s, Addams helped develop The Addams Family TV series which ran for 2 seasons from 1964 to 1966. Addams thought up most of the family members’ names. It is mainly thanks to the TV series that Charles Addams’ fictional family became household names. Get the full scoop here.

TV Guide has quite a list with the 60 Greatest TV Families of All Time. The Addams Family came in at No. 9 and is described as “the design for cartoonish clans to come, like the Flintstones and the Simpsons.”

Anne thought it was the Von Trapps. She lost her $800 bet and finished with $400.

Lucian got it right. He bet $600 and that brought him up to $5,200.

Christine didn’t have a response. She lost her $2,000 bet but won the game with the remaining $10,600. Her 2-day total is $44,600.

It feels to me like Christine is a “cooler”. At least, all clues were uncovered. But, how lackluster – borderline boring. I always find it a bit cringe worthy when there’s a $12k runaway. After the quizzical FJ bet lat night, I don’t know if Christine has “the real stuff”. Head to head vs some others this season, she gets creamed, cleanly. Congrats to her for being a two day champ.

  2. Howard says:

Very uneven show, to say the least. All 3 DDs were very gettable, and Lucian easily would have won the game if he’d just known the expression for calm disposition that begins with “on.” He was at -600 early in DJ and came on strong, mostly with those rhyming synonyms.

As Ismael and Kevin said, they left a bushel of $$ on the table. Who doesn’t know what year the US centennial was? Was hoping someone would know the year Australia got the Olympics, the port city in LA, the Senate committee dealing with shaky stock trades, the position played by the three Bears, the author of Zhivago, and the first woman in space.

These players would have no chance if they were to face any of the GOATs on “The Chase.” But I’d love to see Matt or Amy go up against them on that show. Several former J! contestants have been on “The Chase,” and I know of a number of others who are in the audition stage.

  3. Rick says:

I thought that was a tough FJ, and I sure didn’t come up with the correct response. Regarding the Addams Family TV series, the first season was a really big hit, but the second season suffered from rather lackluster scripting. .

  4. Louis says:

Well I am not surprised that the ladies did not know the Addams family and now I got that theme song stuck in my head again.

    • Jacob says:

I was never a follower of the Addams Family movies, tv shows, etc. I must admit the theme song was a catchy tune though.

    • rhonda says:

I watched the tv series when I was a kid, but am not familiar with the movies, I think Angelica Huston might have played Morticia in one of the movies in the 90’s, I am not sure, though.

  5. Ismael Gomez says:

Terrible show as all 3 DDs were missed resulted a skunking. I am sure William Weyser or Richard Corliss will say darn those daily doubles.

    • Kevin Cheng says:

I will agree with that. Plus we had 17 triple stumpers today. The most known record is 23.

      • Jason says:

That’s just crazy. I thought 11 in the College Tournament was a lot. 17 is a large amount of “dead air”.

    • William Weyser says:

I would say that, but I’m not in the mood, because I made an appearance on Rick Rampezzotti’s streaming channel. He is a friend of mine from Florida. Everything was going great, and then Rolando invited Tristan Gironda near the end of the stream yard. It was time to close off the stream yard, and Tristan didn’t it well. He was like “But I just got here.”, and he was swearing. I overreacted, and Rick didn’t like it. I don’t like swearing, and I’m sensitive. Tristan, I’m sorry. It’s not your fault. It’s Rolando’s fault. I feel like except for Jaskaran Singh winning the National College Championship & yesterday’s tiebreaker, this week has not been great. Let’s see if we can end this week on a high note or a low note, before I get mad at this month for being “The Month of Misunderstandings”, and hope that March will treat me like I’m a fully understood person.
