Final Jeopardy: Name’s the Same (12/5/16)
The Final Jeopardy question (12/5/2016) in the category “Name’s the Same” was:
Name shared by one of a trio of young chums in a popular book series & the daughter of Menelaus & Helen of Troy.
New champ Tim Aten won $35,000 last Friday. Pretty awesome, huh? Let’s see how he does against these two players today: Matthew Martinez, from San Antonio, TX; and Yi Deng, from Jersey City, NJ.
Round 1 Categories: Holiday Albums – Classic Monopoly – Literary Characters – Mottoes – 19th Century America – Name That Noun
Yi found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Literary Characters” under the $400 clue on the 14th pick of the round. She was in second place with $1,400, $1,600 less than Tim’s lead. She made it a true Daily Double and guessed Frankenstein’s monster. That was WRONG.
Per his creator “He could spring twenty feet across space at the dizzy heights of the forest top” show
Matthew finished in the lead with $3,600. Tim was second with $3,400 and Yi was last with $2,000.

Yi finished in the lead with $12,000. Matthew was next with $7,600 and Tim was in third place with $6,800.
Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
There is a whole essay on The Harry Potter Lexicon website devoted to figuring out how many students attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It has the list of the school chums referred to in the clue. Only one has the same name as the daughter of King Menelaus of Sparta and Helen of Troy.
Tim got it right. He bet $6,000, bringing him up to $12,800.
Matthew came up with Ajax. He bet and lost it all.
Yi thought it was Leto. She lost her $3,300 bet, finishing with $8,700. So Tim remains the champ and now has a 2-day total of $47,800.
These 2 stumpers are from the “WHO ‘AR’ THEY?” category:
($800) Abu Ammar was the nom de guerre of this longtime leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization
($1600) Florence Nightingale Graham was the real name of this cosmetics queen

Nobody gave Alex a heads up on how to say Yi’s occupation so he said “Su-brights, which was the very reason that I separated the words on the howdies page. (In the intro, Johnny Gilbert said sub rights assistant). Anyway, as Alex said, her job would lead you to think she was well-read. I thought she was the most likely to have seen a Harry Potter film or two and would be the one to get it right!

I guess matthew and Yi are not fans of harry potter. VJ who is leto and what tv show was he from?
Also congrats to tim on a successful win again. Ajax i do remember from cartoon network from the looney tunes. do you remember if it was from the acme hour?
Not sure about Looney Tunes, Lou. Wasn’t it a company in the cartoons? As for the answers Matthew and Yi gave, they were thinking of mythology. Ajax was a Greek warrior, a man, so that was far off base. Leto was the mother of Apollo and Artemis.
