The Final Jeopardy question (12/24/2015) in the category “American Businessmen” was:
Ironically, this man worth tens of millions when he died in 1990 said his parents named him with a Socialist logo in mind.
New champ Chandreyi Ghosh scored big yesterday with a $34,401 win. Today she is up against these two players: Christina Pulawski, from Chicago, IL; and Markus Kolic, from Dighton, MA.
Round 1: Markus found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Found in Germany” under the $800 clue, the 6th pick of the round. Everyone had $600 at this early point in the game. He bet the $1,000 allowance and he was RIGHT.

TWO of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
“Hammer claimed that his father had named him after a character, Armand Duval, in La Dame aux Camélias, a novel by Alexandre Dumas, fils. According to other sources, Hammer was named after the “arm and hammer” graphic symbol of the Socialist Labor Party of America (SLP), in which his father had a leadership role. (After the Russian Revolution, a part of the SLP under Julius’ leadership split off to become a founding element of the Communist Party USA.) Later in his life, Hammer confirmed that this was the origin of his given name.” (Wikipedia: Armand Hammer)

Christina got it. She bet $1,399 and finished with $2,799.
Chandreyi also got it. She didn’t bet anything and stayed at $7,000.
Markus didn’t bet anything so he went with “Who is Santa Claus” with a Merry Christmas message and a Santa hat that Alex called a tuque. So the new champ’s one-day haul is $15,300. That’s something we’d love to find under the Christmas tree!
A Costly Triple Stumper: All of the players chimed in with a wrong answer to this $1,600 “Can I Get a Witness” clue: “Since 1971 none of the 8,500 in Witness Security who obeyed the rules were killed, thanks to this service guarding them.” Chandreyi said the FBI, Markus said the Federal Witness Protection Program and Christina said the Secret Service.
2 years ago: Only ONE of the two players left in FJ got this one in “Tech Terms”
In a July 1990 post Yisrael Radai called this 7-letter term “a word I just coined for Trojans, viruses, worms etc.” show
