WHAT IS DOS EQUIS?
In 2014, Business Insider interviewed Jonathan Goldsmith, who revealed how he got “The Most Interesting Man in the World” role for Dos Equis commercials. When asked what his interest in South America was, he felt they were looking for an Ernest Hemingway type so he said he loved South America and used to hunt jaguar there, using his friend and fellow actor, Fernando Lamas’ accent. However, it was Barbara Bulky, his agent and later his wife, who clinched it for him when they almost turned him down because of his age. “How can ‘The Most Interesting Man’ in the world be young,” she asked.
They did get a younger man to replace Goldsmith in 2016. He resurfaced in 2017 in an Astral Tequila commercial, saying: “I told you, I don’t always drink beer.”
Johnny got it right. He bet $3,300 and finished with $11,100.
Kate wrote down “Mr. Clean.” She bet and lost it all so Alex said she got cleaned out. LOL!
Eileen drew a blank. She lost her $9,000 bet, leaving her with $4,200. That means Johnny Leon is the new Jeopardy! champ.

Wasn’t dos equis used in a similar final jeopardy clue last.season, VJ? Also do you drink dos equis or do you prefer chardonnay?
@Lou, yes, it was — that was in Grant McSheffrey’s third game — March 16, 2017.
Okay, I can’t resist — I don’t always drink alcohol, but when I do, I prefer butterscotch schnapps 🙂
(Seriously, I very rarely drink and never beer or wine)
Ah, I was hoping Kate would know this one esp after her kayak story. LOL! Loved her FJ response and Alex’s quip. Congrats to Johnny on the lone solve.

I wonder why the writers are obsessed with Dos Equis? Seems a bit much to have it come up as a FJ clue again.
I suppose the clue writers do several clues with the same answer when they come across something that strikes them as good clue material. But I’m kind of conditioned to expect a 2-year lapse at least before the same response appears in FJ, so yeah, it seems weird to me, too.
Don’t worry, it’s only Dos Equis so we’re probably done for a while. If it were Tres Equis, we’d need to be on the lookout for another one soon.
