ALL of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
WHAT IS “OLIVER!” or “GIGI”?
“Oliver!” (1968) is a film version of Lionel Bart’s 1960 stage musical of the same name. Both, of course, are based on “Oliver Twist”, Charles Dickens’ tale of the hapless orphan who falls in with some bad company. The film starred Mark Lester in the title role with Ron Moody as Fagin, the part he played on stage in 1960. The film won 5 Oscars plus one honorary Oscar for choreography.
“Gigi” (1958) is a romantic comedy starring Leslie Caron in the title role and French heartthrob Louis Jourdan, as well as film and stage veterans, Maurice Chevalier and Hermione Gingold. The film was based upon French author Colette’s 1944 novella of the same name. Nominated for 9 Oscars, “Gigi” won all 9 at the 31st Academy Awards.
Ed got it right with “Gigi”. He bet it all and doubled his score to $5,600.
$18,400
Emma had “Oliver!” so she was right, too. She bet it all and doubled her score to $21,200.
Tyler had “Oliver!” too. He bet everything and won the game with $36,800. The next time Ken gets to see Tyler’s poker face will be in the semifinals.
BE MORE SPECIFIC: SCIENCE ($400) Ocean sediment may be made up of coccolithophores, these tiny organisms 6 billion to the square foot – Emma answered with “plankton” and Ken asked if she could be more specific. She said no. Tyler buzzed in with “phytoplankton” and Ken asked if he could be even more specific. Tyler said no. Ed wasn’t touching it. Ken then said the answer was “algae” but I wasn’t happy with the “be more specifics” so I looked up coccolithophores. Algae isn’t even in the article, but plankton and phytoplankton are!
A triple stumper from each round:
LOOK! UP IN THE SKY! IT’S… ($800) This constellation, the “chained maiden”
AD-JECTIVES ($2000) It’s applied to juicy steaks or, botanically, to cacti & other water-retaining plants
2 years ago: NONE of the players got this FJ in “20th Century People”
Gen. MacArthur said this man’s death by “violence is one of those bitter anachronisms that seems to refute all logic” show

As William Weyser says, darn those daily doubles, Ed.
Tyler is quite the smart guy. His rigid posture makes my slouch look lame.
I honestly didn’t think he’d get FJ. “Oliver!” came to mind right away, even though I’ve never seen the film. I did see the show on Broadway, the 2nd one I ever attended. David Jones, later of the Monkees, was the Artful Dodger. Still have my Playbill. To avoid confusion, a later David Jones changed his surname to Bowie.
Very surprised Ed didn’t know Jenner’s vaccine. That’s pretty basic.
I thought someone should have gotten the heat energy clue, as half the answer was in the Latin form of the word.
Re the FJ from 2021: no one could figure out the world figure whose “anachronistic” death by violence refuted all logic? If you knew MacArthur’s time of fame and a peaceful leader who died by violence, it wasn’t tough.
Where are Mrs answers?
I just posted them
That’s too bad, we are not going to have any female contestants participating in the Heart Group finals game.
Congrats to all the players for getting the final. I was right that Ed would know Gigi. I never really got into that one myself but the actors in Oliver! were awesome. Harry Secombe is just about my favorite when he sings “Boy for Sale”.
None of the actors in Gigi got Oscar nods; Ron Moody and Jack Wild (Artful Dodger) were nominated for Oliver! but they didn’t win.
I knew that TS on the black deputy U.S. Marshal from the INSP series Wild West Chronicles, S1E6. It’s on YouTube.
I, too, thought that the algae clue was a bad one. I even told my wife.
The black deputy was also on an episode of Timeless, from about 5 or 6 years ago, and a new series on Paramount Plus. Another interesting thing about him: 3000 arrests, and never injured, even once!
I thought Ed was a little quick on that cholera. Frankly, that’s an easy one.
What exactly was the answer Ken expected from them? That’s what I mean about Ken giving half-assed answers. He’s too busy being the life of the party.
Wow, all three players bet it all and got Final right. I guess everybody was a big fan of musicals. The last time everyone bet all of their money was 11/9/23 when two of the three players got Final correct.
