WHAT IS PLYMOUTH?

An article on imagesofoldhawaii.com contains details about the first four ships to arrive in Plymouth between 1620 and 1623 with passengers who didn’t call themselves “Pilgrims”, but all came to be known as “Old Comers.” The Fortune was the second ship, originally mistaken for a hostile French ship. The settlers were relieved when the Fortune hoisted the English flag, but were disgruntled, according to Second Boat Magazine (May 1982), when they learned the Fortune brought “‘not so much as bisket cake or any victialls,’ little bedding beyond ‘some sorry things’ in their cabins, and neither ‘pot nor pan to dresse any meate in.'”

Ironically, although the Fortune arrived without provisions, it was sent back with beaver and otter skins and other valuable items meant to repay the ship’s financiers. The Fortune was relieved of its valuable cargo by French pirates or a French warship, depending on the source.

John thought it was Jamestown. He lost his $3,601 bet and finished with $1,799.

Katy also went with Jamestown. She only lost $1,801, finishing with $7,199.

Cris got it right. He bet $7,221 and won the game with $35,221. His 13-day total is $416,102.

Does anybody know why Amy was allowed to show her tattoo in the TOC, but was forced to cover it up before? What changed?

I thought of Plymouth immediately and went with it, but really thought it was too obvious.

That “lose a letter” category can be tricky, but I figured one of them would know the sound a bell makes and the natural gem.

John’s missed DD was gettable for sure, but ultimately didn’t cost him the game. At first I thought it looked like BB King, but then heard Ken’s description that included the creek and nailed it.

Couldn’t choose between “Iliad” and “Odyssey” for the 3rd DD, but settled on “Iliad.” Darn.

I just wasn’t thinking straight in FJ, and came up with Boston Harbor (of all places).

I really liked that Dickens’ speech category today
