WHO IS CHEWBACCA?

Even before the 1977 movie “Star Wars” made its debut, Ballantine published “Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker”, written by Alan Dean Foster. “Star Wars” scriptwriter George Lucas hired Foster to write a tie-in novelization. Originally, it was supposed to be movie first, then novel, but the film’s premiere was pushed back and Foster had to write the “Star Wars” novel from the script and Chewbacca got a medal in the script he was working from. The novel was published in November 1976. Then, the script was changed so that only Luke Skywalker and Hans Solo got medals in the film. Soon after the film’s 1977 release, Lucas claimed that medals don’t mean a lot to Wookies. Then, Chewbacca got a medal in a 1980 comic called “The Day After the Death Star”.

So Chewbacca’s medal history went medal, no medal, medal. At least that’s what I got out of The Bewildering Saga of Chewbacca’s Missing Medal in Star Wars

Matylda thought it was Skywalker. She bet zero so her score remained $5,200.

Josh had no response, just a shoutout to his fam. He only lost $5.00 and finished with $12,795.

Harrison actually started out on the right track but switched to Princess Leia. He lost $999 and won the game with the remaining $25,601. His 7-day total is $208,201.

Caught only the last few minutes. My utter lack of “Star Wars” trivia knowledge did me in. I feebly said “the guy from Apocalypse now” (Kurtz, whose name I momentarily forgot). Knew the last DD. Got half of the middle one and should have nailed the first–I took a class in it in college.

The country star/chicken man was ez. One of his restaurants opened here and disappeared quickly. Knew the CEF stumper; we collected for it as kids on Halloween. Thought someone might know the hunger organization. Well-acquainted with the Jewish women’s org but that was a toughie. I liked the Potpourri category, if only because I knew all of them.

  2. Rick says:

It was another fantastic game, and Harrison remained as the Jeopardy champion. Well, I performed slightly below average in the game, and flubbed the FJ (as I really couldn’t come up with anything based on the clues).

  3. Travis says:

Did anyone else notice or think that Harrison’s accent went away today? Sounded like he had a typical American accent today.

  4. VJ says:

I wished they had Flaming Ember’s Westbound #9 song in the County Line category (“Sittin’ on the bank of Holy Creek down by the county line”) but it was just as well. If they didn’t know the Gambler they sure as hell wouldn’t have known that one!

  5. Kevin Cheng says:

Harrison is the first player this season to cross the 200,000 in winnings and he is now the biggest money winner of Season 42.
