WHAT IS “LIFE OF PI”?

The 2001 novel “Life of Pi” by Canadian author, Yann Martel, explores themes of survival and faith. It is narrated by the title character as an adult. He was born in Pondicherry, India as Piscine Molitor Patel and symbolically changed his name to “Pi”. His family migrated to Toronto, Canada. The Pacific Ocean part happens when Pi’s whole family drowns at sea while transporting animals from their zoo to Canada. The lone survivors end up being Pi and a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker, who must find a way to trust each other or perish. “Life of Pi” has been adapted to screen and stage (as a musical).

Former President Barack Obama enjoyed reading “Life of Pi” with his daughter so much that he wrote Yann Martel a letter.

Brent thought it was “Eat, Pray, Love”. That cost him $2,401 and left him with $4,599.

Sarah got it right. She bet $4,601 and finished with $14,001.

Harrison also got it right. He bet $2,999 and won the game with $24,799. Harrison finishes this week with a 4-day total of $116,600.

1/3 on DD but got FJ. I told my wife, before the clue was shown, that I wouldn’t get it, because I don’t know anything about 21st Century literature, so that was a nice surprise.

Harrison really poured it on in DJ! Good on him.

Decent challengers, champ blew two DDs and risked his runaway with his wager on the last, but he still coasted to victory. I got both DDs he missed and thought they were kinda easy.. Ni-cad batteries/5 cent coin. Final left me blank; certainly have heard of the novel/movie, and I’m sure my daughter read it.

Knew the Ross-Richie duet; the Gunn/Rookie actor; and Latin for later.

  3. Rick says:

It was another exciting game, and Harrison remained as the Jeopardy champion. Yes, Harrison was as sharp as usual. ‘Life of Pi’ was familiar, and I thought that it was made into a movie. In any case, I thought that the movie had to deal with the Vietnamese boat people after the war.

  4. Kevin Cheng says:

With that, Harrison has now 4 games and he has qualified for the 2027 Tournament of Champions because remember today is the last day for 2025-26 postseason qualification. This means that Aaron Levine is now officially going to be in the 2026 Tournament of Champions.
