WHAT ARE “VeggieTales”?

Phil Vischer’s desire to combine filmmaking and Christian storytelling led him to create a simple animated character to share Bible stories. His original idea was a talking candy bar, Vischer said in a podcast interview on PureFlix, but he changed to vegetables after his wife said “Moms are going to be mad if you make their kids fall in love with candy bars.” It took 2 years before VeggieTales took off, but then it blew up in a way Vischer said he could not have imagined “in a million years.”

Missed it all, so it’s recap all the way. Blanked on the final; haven’t watched a cartoon in ages. I guessed SpongeBob Square Pants. Got 3/3 DDs, thanks to knowing what university the Hoyas teams represent.

Knew the Pete Weber and Gonzaga river clues. Can’t believe no one got the FJ from 2 years ago. Pretty sure I know all the lyrics to that Stones classic. Old enough to know both the Moon Unit Zappa and Buddy Holly songs. Surprised no one got the Ricky Roma/Shelley Levene play. Great movie, too, if your ears can handle the language. The Dracula guy’s last name escaped me for the moment. Should have nailed that one; he graduated from my college 13 years before me.

It was another fascinating game, and TJ remained as the champ due to Chris’ small wager in FJ. No, I didn’t get the correct FJ response as I was simply no fan of the ‘Veggie Tales’. Anyways, I didn’t ace the ‘Car’ category (and I should have easily done so), and mostly due to the fact that the show’s writers apparently know little about them. I mean, in at least one clue, I think that they must have derived their information from AI. As for me, I performed well above average in the game.

What was Chris thinking with his wager? He should have gone for the cover bet to win but he didn’t and he made the same mistake as Vickie did on September 26, 2025. Anyway, TJ finally came up with a correct response becoming our second official qualifier this season for the TOC 2026.

To borrow a line from Yogi Berra, it’s déjà vu all over again 🥸
