Final Jeopardy: The Americas (10-8-20)

Here are 7 more triple stumpers from the 10/8/2020 Jeopardy! game:

THE $1 BILL ($800) The number off to the right identifies which exact one of these metal sheets was used to print dozens of dollar bills at a time

BEER / ME! ($800) Last name of brothers Kyle & Kurt, cool as “Ice” as they finished 1-2 at NASCAR’s Food City 500 in 2019

SPORTS AWARDS ($1000) The Venus Rosewater Dish

NURSERY RHYMES ($1000) This fella was under a haystack, fast asleep

DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER ($800) Weighing 287 carats when discovered in 1877, the yellow diamond named for this jeweler is worn in public about every 60 years

YOUR 4 “I”S ONLY ($1600) Look it up online! In Hawaiian this double talk word means “quickly”

($2000) From the Latin for “nothing”, it’s an adjective for someone who’s totally down for anarchy

Answers to the Sneak Peek clues — DOCTOR, NO! (The players got them all except the $400 clue):

($400) No way! Back in the day, instead of tobacco, doctors used Page’s inhalers, “medicated” these with tea leaves & kola nuts
($800) Ach, nein! Advocating a drug he enjoyed himself, this Austrian psychoanalyst published “Uber Coca” in 1884
($1200) Doc, no! Your predecessors treated syphilis with this liquid metal–one side effect was death
($1600) In the 1800s Paris hospitals used 5 million of these annelids a year–I know they can still be useful, but no thanks
($2000) Glad I didn’t live in ancient times, when trepanning involved removing some bone from here so that evil spirits could escape

    10/8/20 fine jeopardy answer..

If you said Haiti instead of Hispaniola would your answer be considered right also???

  2. Mimi says:

Being a semi-educated US citizen, I honestly thought Hispaniola was part of the Caribbean not the Americas. I love that I always learn something watching Jeopardy… 🙂

Oh! He beat her by $100.

Speaking of that Daily double on The world is not enough. Ringworld had two games, One was Revenge of the Patriarch and the other was Return to Ringworld based on the books by Larry Niven, I am sure those would have given Garrett that hint. Discworld is actually by Terry Pratchett which has characters like Rincewind and Wendell and so forth. VJ have you played Discworld or Ringworld? They are the oldest games from the early to late 90s.

  5. VJ says:

@Rhonda, I thought about our hairdo remarks from the other day when Amy’s hairstyle reminded me of Bonnie from Billlions today. Otherwise, they don’t look alike.

    • rhonda says:

That’s funny, VJ. I couldn’t stand Bonnie from Billions!

      • VJ says:

Did you see yet that it got renewed for a Season 6? Right after they finish Season 5 next year. Looks like there’ll be a lot of Crazy Chuck and Bonkers Bobby, unless they split up Season 6, too!

      • rhonda says:

I did see that, that was pretty surprising. I haven’t even gotten around to watching the partial season 5 episodes, not sure if I ever will.

  6. Bob Dagenais says:

There was an error in the 3 things about the presidents category. Response was “Samuel” (Adams). Should have been John.

    • JP says:

It looks like you’ve confused two categories. The clue with Samuel Adams as the correct response was in the category “Beer/Me”, and the clue asked for a governor of Massachusetts in the 1790s.

The “3 Things About The President” did not have any clues references to either Adams.
