WHO IS WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON or ZACHARY TAYLOR?

Daniel Webster famously turned down the VP position offered to him by William Henry Harrison in 1839, responding: “I do not propose to be buried until I am dead.” Harrison chose John Tyler for his running mate (”Tippecanoe and Tyler, too). Harrison died just a month after his inauguration. When Zachary Taylor offered him the same position, Webster must have thought that kind of thing couldn’t possibly happen twice, yet it did. Millard Fillmore was the guy who accepted the position and he became President when Taylor died 16 months after his inauguration. Read more on Mediaite

As someone who recently taped a Jeopardy episode I can tell you that I wasn’t even aware the TOC tracker existed. Nor are we told what the cut-off period for the TOC is. Possibly because there’s enough information overload as it is?

  2. Albert says:

That was a tough Final. I guessed James Buchanan.

  3. rhonda says:

VJ, you have a typo, you typed that Daniel Webster turned down the VP offer in 1939.

  4. John B./I. says:

Kind of quiet around here today. I guess everybody is already preparing her/his turkey etc..🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗

I wonder if tomorrow’s FJ will have at least a remote link to Thanksgiving, maybe they’ll put in an entire category??

Great to be back after the exciting Teen Tournament, and Casey thought he could lead going to FJ!, unfortunately, his gutsy risk of $7,000 cost him, making Mary Ann Borer knocking Erik Agard out. Interestingly, this was the same FJ! response in the clue, “4 Republican, 2 Democrat, and these 2 Whig presidents died while in office”. Indeed, a twist of irony, isn’t it?

It’s great to be back to the regular games and mary Ann is looking good right now and I can see she will win game four as long as she has confidence. Lake pontchartrain was seen as a scene in everything or nothing a James bond game on PlayStation though how Casey didn’t know that I have no clue. But still glad he got final right despite not able to defeat Mary Ann. Abby had trouble getting into the rhythm today. By the way VJ when was the last time you visited Louisiana and seen the lake?

    • VJ says:

Yeah, Lou, that might have all turned out differently if he made a small bet on that last DD. I’ve only been to Louisiana a couple of times myself and not by that lake.

Well, we got pretty much what we did expect, congratulations to Mary Ann and all the “J”s who got it, VJ, JJ. J seems to be a lucky letter when it comes to predictions…
So Mary Ann is now #15 on the ToC list, she bumped Erik off but trails Ali Asan by ONE DOLLAR….. Don’t the players study the ToC list??
Given the numbers before FJ there must have been a few misses and/or TS questions, though the last DD with minus 7K certainly brought the total down. But Casey did what he had to do. Too bad for him that there is no lake Lafayette in LA.
If Mary Ann wants to feel safe she has to win at least one more game, then there would be only three 3 game winners left, Scott,Dave and Ali. Why do I have the nagging feeling that Mary Ann will win tomorrow and maybe Fri and then lose. Pretty soon after her loss: another 4 or 5 game winner…..And once all 3 game winners are gone, the ToC will be announced. Just a hunch.
