WHAT IS OLIVE OIL?

A couple of years ago, “60 Minutes” did a segment (now on Vimeo) on Agrophobia. The criminal enterprise was estimated to yield profits of $16 billion per year. The Mafia also makes a bundle with fake wines and cheese. Here is a link to some 9th grade flashcards where they mention olive oil and Homer.

Homer and Plato aren’t the only ones who like that description. Here’s a 2017 FOOD & DRINK clue: ($600) “Liquid gold” is what Kraft calls this processed product used in its Shells & Cheese.

Doug bet $10,000 bringing him up to $22,600.

Kian bet $1,000. He finished with $14,000.

Sara bet $13,100 and won the match with $32,700. She is the new Jeopardy! champ. Coincidentally, Alex told Sara: “You go girl!” That was a hashtag one of the former Secretaries of State in the “2 Years Ago” clue used on Twitter (it’s mentioned in that day’s recap).

I’m glad Doug lost. There was something I didn’t like about his style of play.

    • VJ says:

Well, this is the world we live in now, Albert. Some people who get on the show really want to be in a viral clip and I think some of them try too hard.

On the other hand, I’ve seen some contestants say their greatest worry about being on the show was that they would do something inadvertently that would go viral.

  2. John Christian Ambion says:

Wow. Sara’s true DD as well as her risk of $3,000 in one of the DD in DJ!, ending with a $13,100 risk in FJ! put Jeffrey Schwarz in a sigh of relief AGAIN and the ToC clock going back to 0. Looks like she would be the “spoiler”.

  3. Lou says:

Well since Doug couldn’t get to the toc list, I guess it is up to Sara to take that spot and win more games without having nervous breakdowns. Glad everyone got final right. I really hope Sara will build on her confidence for the weeks to come

    • VJ says:

Well, yeah, Lou, I used it to cook a lot of things, put it in salads and even some in cooked spaghetti so it doesn’t stick together. If it was fake, I guess that makes me an unwitting victim of the Agromafia. omg!

    • John Christian Ambion says:

@Lou She could be the “spoiler”, because Kyle Jones secured a last-minute spot in the ToC. Maybe she would go on for two more and be in the ToC is she risked a bundle and got it right.

  4. John B./I. says:

WOW! Congratulations galore, Sara! An uneven and gutsy bet at FJ, she might as well have gone all in. But 32.700 is quite a nice payday I would say, certainly not chicken feed.
Since Doug missed out to get on the ToC list, Jeffrey still clings to the #15 spot, with the clock reset yet again.
And the FJ clues are getting easier. After Mon @ Tue disaster they eased up considerably on Wed (still only 1 right) and today was even easier. Logic, short deduction, easy ,short and precise clue I wonder what’s in store for tomorrow!!??
Sara got off to a running start plus the 5K DD bet…. again: great job!! Finally a player you would expect on the air after a lengthy selection process. I hope she can continue and does not have the usual meltdown after a game or two!
